It's OK, I did a search. this is the only one I could find that is post speculation and is centric to the announcement.

The first AC had genius. Hidden messages, along with that most of the plot asked you to explore, rather than just be told (the key to the conference room etc.) what does the second game have in store for us? I'm expecting Desmond to escape, and become his ancestor (if not in 2, in 3). Hopefully the some FPS action will be tossed in as well ~EDIT~ NONONO . What are your thoughts?

Oh, and by the way Altair is long dead. The game now stars Ezio. Also, Assassins Creed II is the fourth in the franchise (A PSP AC game has been announced for later this year)

I personally an going to follow this franchise, and get every single one of them. Hopefully this game won't catch Resident Evil disease...

Ah, wait, no, it already has. According to wikipedia: "It is set to be released worldwide around Christmas 2009 on the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii and Xbox 360 platforms."

It will most likely be released December 4th.

and the PSP version will be a direct port. sorry for the misinformation. Wii version, huh? interesting...

No, I don't think that's necessary, or a good thing. I'm so sick of First Person Shooters (I mean, I play a lot of them, but that's because they're easily the most common game right now), and if Assasins Creed were to do that, I think it would just kill the whole mood and idea of the game. The whole point of Assasins Creed is seeing your body, and being aware of what you're doing and your surroundings, and I don't think that could be captured in First Person. Also, shooting would be a terrible addition to the gameplay.

EDIT: Also, please note the edit button on the bottom right of your post. Do as I did, and use it.

With any luck it will be in different parts of the world.

Also sketchy is right, introducing FPS would kill it, the whole idea that you can see around you is what made the game so fun. When you can see the 40 guards around you you can apreciate it as opposed to simply panicking at the horde.

The intro of guns would be good though, but very limited use, like single shot dart guns.

I hope it introduces some night/darkness stealth a-la Thief series, as well as the blend system.

There was an article (on this site) that said it would be set in renaisance Italy (Venice or Florence or somewhere i can't remember) and that sounds really cool. I hope they stay true to the original but improving on the fluidity of assassinations. And i hope it lacks having to fight 50 knights at a time at the end.

You're right actually. But also, I expect to control Desmond, and how is he going to operate? With knives? Oooh, I know, maybe he'll go crazy and he'll use knives because of that! That would be fantastic.

Also, I used the EDIT button A LOT. I just didn't think it was necessary/appropriate.

Well, FPS would kill it, I was just thinking about Desmond. I actually don't think that Assassin's Creed wants thief-styled stealth, but maybe it will get thrown in. A Day/Night cycle is being introduced, at least.

OK, here's the rundown:

Available On: Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii, Xbox360

Current Suspected Release Day (well, for Americans at least): 4 December 2009

Setting: Renaissance Italy, during the Carnival of Venice in the year 1476, which is 285 years after the first game/America 2012

Main Character: Ezio Auditore de Firenze/Desmond Miles

Centric Historical Characters Present: Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolò Machiavelli, Caterina Sforza, and Lorenzo de' Medici

New Features: Swimming - Allows players to traverse bodies of water, can be used as a hiding spot for as long as Ezio can hold his breath. It also allows you to drag guards into water as a means of assassination

Aprrox. 16 more mission types - For gathering information/filler

More weapons - including an axe, a hammer, a mace, a spear, two different sword types, a halberd, and two smaller blades, some of which can be stolen from enemies, since Ezio won't carry weapons all the time (except for his hidden blades and throwing knives)

Much more sophisticated combat system - The player will have to use a variety of tactics depending on what type of enemy he is fighting; Dagger wielders are quick and can use the same free-running tactics that Ezio has. Brutish armored troops are strong and heavy, and can do lots of damage. Halberd wielders are "paranoid" and "keen of their surroundings". They will probe hiding places if they think the player is nearby

Notoriety system - The player will become more notorious as Ezio completes more missions. The player will often have to go on missions to decrease his notoriety, such as assassinating witnesses, using bribes or getting rid of posters of Ezio's face

Better hiding system - Ezio can hide in a pile of wool or a fish cart or other places. However, guards will now probe hiding places if they feel necessary. Unlike in the first game, the player can now blend in with any crowd rather than a group of scholars dressed in white

Day & Night Cycle - To give a sense of time passing

I expect that all of the above information will be true yet we STILL may end up just running circles around the game... I still have hope...

Just read about it on Game Informer. They have a great first-look, including the little tidbit that you get to work with Leonardo da Vinci.

I'm really looking forward to this. It actually seems like the developers were listening to the fans and sought to make the sequel a great game both story- and gameplay wise.

Yay ^^

Yeah, looking forward to this. First one had problems for sure but overall it was a fun game imo. And for fights with lots of soldiers - Counterattack is your friend, especially with short sword, instant kill almost every time :)

Haven't we already got a bunch of info about this game?

Like the main characters name, where the game is held, etc. etc.

The first one was REALLY overrated, so I don't know...
agreed. I thought it was rather boring and repetitive? I dunno. Maybe I should try to sit down and give it another chance...

Either you get it or you don't. I loved all the hidden messages, and also how it was so historically accurate. All the people he killed disappeared around that time. The Brotherhood was real; they invented the word "Assassin". What else is really cool is the little details; the messages. Altair means "Eagle". All the things at the end meant something. (look it up) But, mainly, it was fun for me. The running jumping (misjudging dying Yahtzee we love you)really worked for me.
