Assassin's Creed 2: Let's stretch out the Ezio story some more.
So typical for UbiSoft...

I don't think I'm gonna bother with this one. I'll watch the end on YouTube and hope Assassin's Creed 3 will finally return to the excuse plot to let us dive into a somewhat accurately recreated city in a new and fresh time period, with interesting politics and a brand-new protagonist.

Also wouldn't buy it if I was interested. It's one of the times where I push back my own desires and think in the slightly larger picture, supporting UbiSoft after what they've done and said. Of course this just plays into their hands and supports them into the decision to not to any ports at all anymore (instead of just lazy ones), but the alternative would only stretch out the inevitable either way.

They can't just destroy the cheesy-as-hell doom satellite in AC3, right guys? Goddamn, the contemporary assassins are such boring characters, and Desmond is their king.

Hm, on one hand they're not using their online DRM, which I fully support.

On the other hand, they essentially told me to fuck off with all their whole "PC users are dirty, bitching pirates" thing they're doing.

Hm...
I still think its worth supporting if they're not using that piece of shit - having said that, I think it still needs an activation every time you launch it (not sure). Because, y'know, once I've bought my copy I always use a pirated version afterwards.

At any rate, I won't be picking it up until the Steam sale anyway.

I can drop everything else from Ubisoft (especially since Splinter Cell went off the fucking rails; why build on one of the greatest stealth games made when you can put out SC: Conviction instead, eh?), but the AC series really has me by the cock and balls.

This game was available to pirates like a week ago, which means the game was finished for PC at the same time it was for consoles. So why the fuck didn't they just release it then? What is the big deal? Are they deliberately trying to piss off PC gamers? Whoever got previous 3 games on PC won't get Revelations on a console, so it's stupid to think the delay would earn them more money than if they released it on time. It's actually doing more harm. The way they're treating PC audience is pathetic and they deserve to go bankrupt, or worse - to merge with Activision.

Day one patch to improve Nvidia 3d support and triple monitor support as well as other things. I don't like being called a pirate but an early, bug free (so far) release is better than a lot of other PC supporting companies have done recently (looking at you rocksteady). Actions speak louder than words and all that, so I think they get some points back for this. They still have a a lot of point to get back if they want to redeem themselves though.

Must go and get a copy of Brotherhood now and catchup.

My guess: They still see the PC as a pirate platform. They're worried that console players will pirate the game on the PC rather than buying it on the TOTALLY PIRATE PROOF console if both are available at the same time.

It's good if this game doesn't have a 3-install limit or always on DRM. Still, I never even played any of the previous AC games, so I'm not going to suddenly spend 50 bucks to reward Ubisoft for sucking slightly less.

Please do continue supporting the 1 year development model, it's done naught but good for the industry. Just take look at the top notch quality ridden titles Ubisoft has been putting out!

After essentially being called a little pirating ***** by Ubisoft, I could care less that the game is coming out. I was actually considering trying to get back into Assassin's Creed after being a little underwhelmed by the first one, but then that PR disaster came out.

/me picked it up at Target on Sunday. So, about five days before it was due for release. Also about $10 cheaper than normal.

That Target also had Batman a few days early, but they weren't selling it at that point.
Yeah, I noticed that. Target had it out like all of last week. I was utterly confused because Steam was still all "WANT TO PRE-PURCHASE LIKE A CHAMPS?!"

My above post states as much that it's been available in retail for over a week for the PC. Just pointing that out.

But the real question is, who did it stab in the neck?

Additionally, the game won't use the <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/111951-Ubisoft-Says-Always-On-DRM-A-Success>much-maligned "always-on" DRM.
*double take*

See, this very nearly convinced me to buy the game right now, even in spite of their previous comments. The only reason I'm not is because I haven't played the previous two.

Hmmmm... I want to give Ubisoft a carrot for once...
Pretty sure they stripped the DRM from AC2, so it might be a place to start.

Do check it out first, I'd hate someone to buy a game based on my half-ass memory.

Awesome game, but I played it on the 360, so I didn't have any qualms.

So long as this causes the price of Brotherhood to drop I'll be happy. I'm a budget gamer so if it's over 20 bucks, I tend to not buy it.

Perhaps the PC version wasn't totally finished. They were probably still sweeping for bugs. Pirates have never been all that picky about releasing buggy versions of the game if they find it leaked early. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here.

In the UK, you can pick up a PC version of Brotherhood for £5.00 - the equivalent of about $8. Or you can buy it on Steam for £30. It's really weird, but physical copies of the AC games seem to devalue really, really quickly.

You needed to order the signature edition-

Instructions:
? From the in-game Main Menu, select EXTRAS.
? Select EXCLUSIVE CONTENT, then press A to bring up the Redemption screen.
? Enter your redemption code and select SUBMIT.

Well, darn it. I bought the regular version. Thanks for the help anyway.
