its seems to me that with all the forums ive seen people seem to think assassins creed is a great game, one of the best ever the way people defend it, but i have found that it is a decent game on the fringes of greatness,i myself have only played assassins creed 2, but it is held back by some major problems, at least in my opinion. the problems i have found are ezio has an atrocious voice actor playing the character this made me strongly dislike ezio, the colour palette of the game is drab its not a game breaker but when combined with the other problems ive found it becomes an issue, and ive also found the controls to be finicky and uncooperative this is mainly a problem for me when im trying to platform or run across rooves. but what im asking is has anyone else found these to be problems i want to like the game it has almost everything in there to make me love it is has beatiful enviroments if a bit drab its set in renaissance italy and its a platformer these are things i like but am i the only one to not like assassins creed?
Play the first one. If you do, the second one suddenly seems a whole lot better.
I had a hard time playing the first one because I hated the stuck-up asshole main character. He was really unlikable - he basically thought he was smarter than his Ninja Master and then screwed up, allowing the enemy to become more powerful. I hated his guts and wanted him to die - which made completing missions problematic.
After that, Ezio was this great, funny, likable guy. Also, I didn't mind his voice actor. It's standard video game quality, which means it isn't great, but he at least sounds sort of into it and does okay with the accent.
On the controls - again, play the first one and you'll understand why everyone loves AC2. The controls were WAY worse in the first one. AC2 fixed a lot of issues with the game play.
I never finished AC1 because of crappy gameplay and annoying protagonist. I really liked AC2 because I felt it fixed both issues. I don't know how I'd feel coming in the middle, but as it stands, I really like Assassins Creed 2. Looking forward to playing Brotherhood.
