A Hermit's Cave
Talk of favoured eras and settings for another Assassin's Creed game got me thinking not of the viability of a story in those settings, but how many toys the game would provide for the assassin-character.

All of the games thus far (to a certain extent) have had a diverse range (at least name/appearance-wise, which is what I'm addressing here) in, for the most part, accurately represented, personal weaponry and armour. Though I can't speak for ACIII, haven't played it/had it spoiled for me.

So, pick your favourite era/location to have an AC game... but justification must come in what sharp pointy things you can use to kill people with (or analogous).

I'm borrowing a bit from what Yahtzee mentioned in the last Extra Punctuation, but the French Revolution.

For weapon, I'm thinking a spring-loaded mini-guillotine would be both hilarious and overkill in the gore department. Just what Assassin's Creed is looking for, eh?

And here I was expecting to get offered a deal on a kit containing all the tools an assassin could ever need...
The realization that this was simply another Assassin's Creed thread was a sad one indeed, seeing as my old kit is quite battered.

On topic:

I want to see an Assassin's Creed doing ancient egypt, another one for ancient greece and another one for ancient rome.

They are probably not going backwards in time, but Japan just before or during Tokugawa would be interesting. Then again; they would probably over do the ninja thing.

Actually some other parts of more modern Japanese history, like the black ships or their invasion of china, could be interesting.

Or if they where really ballsy: The African colonies.

I agree with the disappointing thread title and I also agree with ancient Greece.

He could be a Spartan warrior and as a special weapon use greek fire. And/or a heat-ray.
Running over the roofs of Athens, stabbing Aristotle in the back...

Anyway, if they're going for a WWII setting I think I'm going to scream. But pre-WWI I could buy, maybe Archduke Franz Ferdinand is the secret head of the templars.

How about one where the assassins are dick holes? Just one?

As for era, I'm thinking French Revolution. Perhaps it could be about Shauns ancestor. I just want to play as a snarky assassin :(

Feudal Japan seems the most legit place to go. If they go any further into the future you're going to be met with problems like: "They got guns, I got knife... Hmm *grabs machine gun* Now we both have guns" and the hole thing turns into a clusterfuck third person shooter.

If not Feudal Japan then let's go to Ancient Egypt and stab up Tuttankamun for ahh... reasons, but wait did the Templars exist in the pre-Crusades period or are we following the history books that say they were formed during the Crusades ?

Oh and finally a question, what the hell are those hidden blades/knifes Connor has in ACIII ? Are they like knifes which can be attached to his wrist to form hidden blades or what ? Every time I skin a bunny I see the knife coming from underneath his wrist so what the hell ?
