Dear All,

I have been given an assignment to write a report about how titrations are carried out and standard solution are prepared in industry and have finished to the introduction to it, only to be stopped by a roadblock, namely with research. I have spent the last two hours googling for sources to cite and just have been swamped by results from Yahoo Answers or Wiki Answers and .pdf files about anything but the subject I have to write about. Seeing as with Google, sometimes you have to know where to look and that The Escapist has numerous users who have a scientific background, I am asking simply for a starting point to go from. In other words, just a point in the right direction.

So care to point me to vaguely where I need to go?

This only has very basic information about titration which I am already aware of, but thanks anyway.

This is a great aritcle and a great starting point as it gives numerous examples. Thank you for this.

So at the bottom of wiki it has several great sources on their titration page. If you look up the individual sources at the bottom of the page you'll probably get a good explanation of what to do. I don't quite understand what your researching regarding titrations though. Also if you have a chemistry textbook wouldn't your teacher allow you to use that as a reference?

Also I wanna say titrations are abased around Fick's dilution principle, I could be wrong about that. So maybe googling conservation of solute or Fick's dilution principle would help.

Thanks, I'm mainly researching about the use of titration and standard solutions in the chemical industry. The reason? My silly course says I have to.

Yeah, but a lot of results are for experiments and the like. Also there's a lot of articles you have to subscribe to a service or purchase to access, so it's a no-go.

Ya I'm on the same course I think, BTec Applied Science is it? I found this PDF document really helpful, not just for "titration in industry" but the whole unit. http://tonyconnett.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/btec_l3/unit_01/assignment_01-01.pdf
