I've been trying to connect to PSN via my wireless internet router and it isn't working and I could use some help from someone a bit more tech-savy than I. I can find my wireless network with no problem, I put in the WEP key and it fails to connect saying that the IP address couldn't be obtained. The user manual offered me no solutions and I highly doubt that their support line would be anymore useful.

Before you ask my signal is fine, it's at %70.

I really need to set this up before BioShock 2 comes out on tuesday. D:

Getting a WEP key is quite tricky and you may need the official forums to help depending on the brand of your router. I googled how to get one from our Airport Express and got a useful answer, so I suspect you'll have to do much the same. It'll be a random string of letters and numbers since the password is in Hexadecimal and it should be around 13 characters long, I think, but it depends on your encryption, which depends on your router.

Wait...WTF? I thought the WEP key was the password to access the router, the one that keeps random people from getting on our connection, are you telling me that's not the case? Forgive me for being PC-retarded. :/

You're not, I had to learn the exact same thing and made the same mistake when I went hunting for it. It's more like the specific password to get into the Router's security than the password for your particular net connection. I guess this is because you can potentially use a router for more than just net access, we just usually don't. Anyway, find your router's make and model, then google for how to get the WEP key, it'll be somewhere in the Router configuration page, probably hidden in some advanced options, but you'll need to actually get in there to get it.

That is incredibly stupid, but thank you for your help. Now it's Google time!

You're very welcome, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who's had this issue.

Now if I can just get my PSP to detect my router again, since it seems to have decided for it the router doesn't exist, but every other one in the apartment block does and my girlfriend's PSP is perfectly happy to say hello to our router. Maybe I've broken the Wireless somehow.

Okay, it turns out that I've been putting in the correct WEP key the entire time and it still doesn't connnect. I've tried both WEP and the other setting and it still doesn't work. What the hell!

God damn it all! Now I have my IP address and tried entering it manually, but I also need my default router number and my primary and secondary DNS numbers (Whatever the hell those are). Anyone know how to obtain these numbers?
