Because I believe in evolution, I'm an atheist. My friend and her mom both asked me this DIRECTLY after I told them.

OT:I'm christian

Assumption no. 1 that im gay
Assumption no. 2 that im violent/aggresive

the first one doesnt really bother me as much as it used to but the second i find unpleasnt I havent done anything to earn that assumption but its has stuck, unfortunatly.

Asian + Curly Hair = Spanish?
Wut.

And because I'm well-spoken, I must be aloof and have some kind of "better than you" superiority complex.

Lets see, this is for specific people since there is no one big assumption about me.

Mom: Assumes that I am still her six year old from a very long time ago.

Grandma: assumes that since I wear a hat, I'm in a gang.

People at school: Assume that I'm gay. I have no idea why. I do not give off any gay vibes to anyone but its sort of funny messing with the homophobic kids at school.

The biggest assumption is that I'll take any insults people throw at me, and sad to say, this is sort of true. I am not the most conflict friendly guy, but when I snap, I snap and people get creeped out by it.
Are you sure you're not me?

OT: There no real stereotype *I use the word stereotype that it happens with a lot of somewhat similar people* when it comes to me, but for some reason I make people uneasy.

I'm not really tall, not buff, not fat (A tiny bit chub, but whatever), and I am reasonably attractive I guess (Some girls and a guy has asked me out, but since I ain't looking for a relationship, I had to turn them down... Hate breaking peoples heart)

I think it might have something to do with my eyes and smile .__. People call it "Dead" for some reason, and I have no clue why. I mean, I'm not a crazed serial-killer out to get his sexual joy out of murdering people... Yet >_>

I guess looking dead is my stereotype, therefore people think I am out to butcher them?

Wait, people call you cigar/smoke? *In England, fag is another word for cigar/Smoke*

That because my natural face (not happy, not sad, just neutral) makes me look really angry or pissed off about stuff and generally when someone wants to talk to me i give them the "death stare" they seem to get a bit scared and go all funny about the question they were going to ask me. Normally i do it to people i dont really know or just getting to know, but i still do it to friends, also when walking down the street and someone looks at my face its like "oh shit, this guys gonna murder me" and they move out of the way, kind of fun when im following someone but dont want to they look behind and start walking a bit faster (probably because i mostly wear hoodies)

Another assumption when people get to know me is because i am rather articulate that i have a superiority complex, i tend to answer questions with lots of different words because i love vocabulary, hell i even challenge my self to not use the same word at times, because im weird like that. I also correct peoples pronunciation and spellings of words a lot.

I also have a chuck liddell mohawk most of the time so people tend to think im a punk or anarchist or something.

Also as you can tell i overtalk/overtype because i get really nervous around people i dont know

I'm apparently a hipster, because I don't follow any fashions or limit my listening to top 40. Plus, I wear spectacles that look good on me. I'm also sad because my moustache droops down when my face isn't doing anything. That's not true, I'm sad because presumptuous people keep offering criticism I'm not interested in. I've no interest in bettering myself.

Are you well dressed and preternaturally witty? More importantly, have you been having homosexual sex with men of the same gender?
No, yes, no. the way you said that just made me laugh.

If it makes you feel better I've had gay men hit on me with that same line :p

On topic:

I have long hair and still have my old denim jacket from high school so I CLEARLY must be a pothead...every time I'm in Berkeley or SF I get aproached to buy or sell weed...I've never touched the stuff

I also had more female freinds than male ones so the assumption was that I was clearly gay...I've never understood that leap in logic...

I have multiple metal issues, all diagnosed. I hate people who say, "It's not so bad" or "You're not a bad person" Paranoia, depression, anger and psychopathy are not exactly condusive to shiney happy people.

Or they assume I'm heavily medicated. Have had people ask me for extra meds so they can get high. I don't take any meds at all. :p

Or they assume I'm trying to be a badass or something. Mistaking truth for bravado just shows how idiotic you are. I'd like to be "normal" as it were. I'm not and never will be. Soimething I've accepted but still don't like the assumptions.

You know what happens when you assume? You make and ass out of u and me!
1. I'm in marching band, therefore, I must be a nerd who gets good grades and takes AP/Honors classes. That's true.
2. I'm in drumline, so I must do drugs. False, I've yet to touch drugs, and am probably never going to take them.
3. I've played video games, therefore, WoW. Sure, I've dappled in WoW, but never seriously.
4. Part of the PC master race, as those are all the games I play.
I don't care about what you play, so long as you have fun. We all have our preferences, budgets, et cetera and who am I, one immortal man, to stop you?

because i have Asperger's Syndrome, have an IQ of -10 and am otherwise physically and mentally handicapped.

drives me up the ****ing wall, i don't know what my IQ is, but it's probably roughly average. and ask anyone of my friends about my social ineptitude.

also, because i only have 25 facebook friends. i'm an anti-social shut-in. i like having the profiles of people i ACTUALLY TALK TO AND INTERACT WITH ON FREQUENT BASIS. *ahem*

yeah, that annoys me.

A few assumptions...

Because I'm an actor I must know everyone in Hollywood and am pals with all kinds of stars. (I'm not)

I work out, and am in pretty good shape, so I must have never heard of any games beyond COD, and have no knowledge of "nerdy" things.

Because I like shooting guns and spent many years in martial arts teaching self-defense, I must be a very violent person. (First lesson I taught: If you don't have to fight - don't.)

Because I drink, I must be an alcoholic.

I play scenario paintball, so I must be this crazy military history nut with a collection of replica uniforms and dress up to play. (Okay, I do have a collection of uniforms, but they are all from family members who served from WWII on, so I feel the need to preserve the history there, but my "dress-up" is often shorts, flip-flops, and maybe a t-shirt.)

I was homeschooled, so I must be socially awkward and find it hard to talk with people. (This is funny, because it usually comes up at bars/social events where I'm surrounded by, and talking with, people.)

I sometimes limp because of injuries during service. People assume that it's "swagger", when in reality I'm just trying to get my leg to move properly.

My hands shake on occasion because of head trauma, and people assume that I'm some nut about to go postal on everyone.

I'm single, so there must be something wrong with me. (Not sure what's wrong, just something is.)

So yeah, that's about it. In reality, I'm a pretty happy, fun-loving guy who likes to run around in the woods and shoot people with little balls filled soap and dye.

In college a lot of people thought I was a stoner simply because I had messy hair.

I don't know where people come up with this s**t.
I got this a lot in high school, having a blonde afro thing. Despite never touching the stuff.

These days though I get "He's too nice" translated as "He's spineless" from girls. I'm not sure what I do to give this off, but it's getting old.

People assume that because I'm an English major, I should never speak with any grammatical errors. Ever. "You just used a fragment as a whole sentence and began it with 'because'? Shock and horror! What did you pay $160,000 for a degree for?" Words have power and meaning. It is all about getting a point across. Sometimes I need to use my fancy college vocabulary to convey the message. Sometimes "ain't" does the job better. Why should I limit the tools I have available to me? If one word works better than another, should I not use it, arbitrary conventions of contractions be damned?

And besides, I ain't doin' nuthin' to English ain't been done before.

Ohhhhhhhh my god. Most of my work involves calling utility companies to set up appointments, or calling other big businesses that require a decent amount of hold-time on the phone. During such time, I often go to a news site to catch up on some headlines while I wait for someone pick up the phone. As such there's this royal ***** that apparently thinks all I do all day long while everyone else is working is screw around on the internet, she's even complained to the managers and has damn near gotten me fired. I likely would have been had it not been for my direct supervisor vouching for the fact that the only time my computer screen isn't on something business-related is when I'm waiting on hold for someone.

The ***** isn't even in the same department as me... >.>

People believe that because I have a ponytail and facial hair that I'm a hippie pot smoker. It's not my thing, and never will be.

People believe that because I hold a different opinion about a subject then they do, that I; 'am just an idiot' or 'can't see the truth for what it is' or 'am being manipulated by unseen forces'. None of the above, I simply disagree on reason we'll never see eye to eye on.

People believe that because I'm a tall, white, straight, middle class, American, non deformed male that everything in life comes easy. I worked very hard for what I have.

Because I openly express my difference of opinion when asked for it; that I'm an asshole. That one always gets me.

"I am on drugs": This one isnt exactly serious, and only happened once, but has turned into an inside joke with my friends who actually get it. See, what happened was when I made a new friend this year who didnt know about me, my Aspergers, or anything like that, and I said something completely random around her, she responded "What are you smoking and where can I get some?" Me being me, I didnt know she was serious, and started laughing. After she told me she was serious, I explained my Aspergers and such, and she knew where the bizareness came from. So now, if I do anything wierd, she will still say "What are you smoking and where can I get some?"

"I am from the Midwest, namely Kansas, thus I am sexist, racist, and Republican, among others": Only one (R) of those is true, and even then I am only Republican in name. (I will vote for a Democrat if I like them more, its just less likely)And it annoys me to no end when people say this about the South and Midwest. Maybe its just because I take after Sweet home Alabama [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SweetHomeAlabama] and Good ole Boys [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GoodOlBoy], but the South/Midwest bashing annoyes me to no end.

"Because I am pro-intevervention, I am a soldier-hating, racist warmonger": Also drives me up the wall. I just want the US, and majorly the UN, to uphold its vows made after WW2 to never let tyranny, dictatorships, and genocide happen again, rather than just take the Nevel Chamberlain approch and throw them to the wolves to ensure "Peace". Plus, I come from a military town and have many family members who have been in the military[footnote]Just to be clear. Great-Grandpa fought in Europe during WW2, Grandpa was in the Navy during Vietnam (although he was in the Med rather than Nam), Uncle fought in Desert Storm. In addiction, my Girlfriends Grandpa was sent to 'Nam.[/footnote], and am very vocal about how we should stand back and just watch genocide happen on CNN and not do anything about it, my current one I am pushing being Iran and Syria. No one complains, many agree. Also comes up since I supported Iraq and Vietnam.

"Because I am pro-life, I am a women hating man.": Makes no since to me since 41% of women identify as pro-life. That is not a statistic you can just ignore or say "oh they be crazy old women".
