And now for my daily thread, I'm pretty sure it isn't chicken.

Ok, this isn't the most professional or thought provoking question (when have I had one of those?) but I was curious. When other Escapisans get a blister on a part of their body do you have the urge to pick at the dead skin? Does anybody else look at every place that got wet in your travels(no dirty joke intended) to check for some nice peeling?

Me I am an absolute fiend for it, the only time I do not do it is when it is on my heel, and by God is it tempting to say "fuck it" and peel it anyway. It provides a silver lining like after coming back from a lost soccer game I find more reason not to be ticked about that rain soaked game with a giant blister on my big toe.

So Escapist am I just plain weird or do you do this as well?

Considering that even the smallest scratches I get end up turning into scars, yes. All the time.

I used to pick at scabs all the time. Now I have the self-control to stop myself from doing it.

Yeah, pretty much all the time.
I just find it sorta fun for some reason. It entertains me.

Anytime I get a burn, and the blister forms that little empty skin... I peel. If there's fluid, I'll drain it, then peel away the skin.

I don't know why I do it, it just doesn't feel right to leave it alone.

I normally resist until it's dried - too many hiking blisters = painful lessons learnt... Scabs are the same - it's annoying to make 'em bleed again if you pick at them too soon.

I hate having blisters. I get rid of them as quickly as I can, regardless of how badly it hurts.
