And now for my weekly thread that was not at all forced from me by the aliens in my brain.

This weeks idea, when is something finished to you? This sparked from a Loadingreadyrun podcast where I think Jer mentioned the "cult of done" and they talked about it for a little while. The idea of just getting something done and putting it out there without much fine tuning. That sound in my brain stuck until the emotion of "weirded out" showed up and reminded me of how close to home that was. Although I do want it to be better, often times the end result is something I made just to fill the void of where it should be.

That said what do you do in these situations Escapist community? Do you fine tweak the balls out of the things you made/do? Or do you finish it so that it is made and then you can move onto something else. You know what I do so lets hear you!

It's done when I say it's done! Why start something with no intention of finishing it?

I believe you misunderstand, I meant do you tweak it to perfection or finish then be done with it. Once it is done is it truly done is what I am asking.

Also, bumpedy bump.

I'm a perfectionist so everything I do has to be done just the way I intended it to be.

Unless something is on a deadline, I often return to it and tweak it many times, even up to years later. If it IS on a deadline, I'll finish it, edit it, turn it in, and then potentially return to it and edit it again at a later date depending on the feedback I get and how entertaining the piece is for me to read.

It really depends on the medium - I have no problem dashing off something quickly if there are deadlines involved or if it's otherwise time sensitive - but on internet forums? I will go back and correct mistakes I notice in posts I made years ago, simply because I can. Each and every one of my "reviews" has received some amount of revision after I hit Post, often more than a half-dozen times as I rethink how I phrased something, or go back and alter bits to match new ideas I've had with subsequent reviews.

The idea of simply leaving errors I spot alone is a concept I find repugnant.

In some things I fine tweak it to perfection, in others I just get it done as soon as possible.
