And now for my weekly thread, yes this is as painful for you as it is me.

Now let us talk about different relations, specifically relations of human-human and human-animal. With the first scenario it is deeper than that with an animal and can last much much longer. However it also is prone to deceit, betrayal, anger, sadness and all the other bad stuff we humans do. Animals on the other hand are quite nice, you give a little you get a lot, and won't do anything to you besides maybe tricking you into feeding them twice. They on the other hand cost a lot of money to feed/take care of, live shorter lifespans than us, and cannot truly "love" us the way a human can.

Now Escapist which do you think is better? Yes I know they both have their merits but I would like to know some Escapees preference on this.
I predict an one sided opinion here, which side I will not say but I think it's going to be heavy on one side.
Me personally I prefer an animals company. Perhaps it is the simplicity that an animal can give off but not be annoying about it, but I think the major reason is because their anger often doesn't linger. A persons words/actions can be far more devastating than an animals claws/teeth. For me it is a safer relationship where I can just lay with my dog for a while as opposed to being yelled at/being criticized.
[sub]Also I want to get into animal medicine, its a bit of my nature.[/sub]

Now let us see what the Escapist puts out shall we?

I would much prefer the company of another person. I like talking and I can't very well start a conversation on my own. I also tend to suck at conversations where neither of us can think up something to talk about. Since I can't usually start things up I kind of rely on another person to create a conversation I can fit into.

I do love my kitty but I'd much prefer a girl on my lap rather than my cat methinks.

I much prefer human contract, as you can actually get feedback on experiences and emotions.

A good cuddle with my Rabbit is always great though.

Generally I far prefer animals over people. That being said, even with my bitter and cynical outlook there really is no substitute for human contact. A person you genuinely like and care for is far better than an animal that can only provide comfort for a short period of time.

Also, venting to your pets makes people look at you funny and can be considered a form of animal abuse.

Foolish mortal, trees were made for venting. With their resilient outside layer and ability to burn take multiple stabs.

Plus that way you just look crazy.

I prefer people, as long that they matter to me, say a girl that I love.

But other than that I prefer to be alone, including animals. It's just that I basically lived with a Zoo. Do you want me to elaborate?

It depends.

Personally, Im a Cat person, But theres nothing worse than when my cat snubs me.

BUT!

People are fun, in small numbers, But just one person can get on my nerves if im spending too much time with someone.

LOL, ok.
I mostly prefer to be alone simply because nearly every human that I've met has treated me in a disgusting matter (discrimination, racism, hatred against me, etc, etc, etc.), specially at school (curiously enough I did become quite popular, maybe because of that, as I didn't gave a damn about it). So I've learned to be cruel and not to have trust with people, as they have screwed me over and over again. But I do enjoy to be with someone who I do feel attracted to, or simply I know is a good person and won't treat me of the same way.

On the side of animals though, I think I prefer to live without them maybe because my family has currently 5 dogs, 8 hamsters, 1 rat (it would be the only animal I'd wish to live though, but not I wished that really), 49 bunnies, 12 turtles and somethings more that i do not remember right now. Add up all the bunnies we had over the years (we actually eat bunnies) and those would be 7894 in total, 12 dogs, 26 turtles, 2 iguanas, 2 Jerboas, and god knows how many more pets. So as you can tell, I've got ENOUGH animals through my life that I just do not want to live with them.

EDIT: I added a little more info at the people section.

Well, to be honest I'm not really bitter or cynical in the least. I enjoy the company of humans more then animals, although I always enjoy having my faithful German Shepard waiting for me at the end of a long day. I just prefer actually having human contact.

Also, my dog can't play SNES games with me. He doesn't have any thumbs.

Human contact.

You mentioned some negatives associated with human contact but I feel that these are uncommon, for me at least, and it is well worth the risk. For every day I get hurt by someone, I have many, many, many more days where I don't.

And example would be my last break up. I spent about two weeks brooding and feeling like shit, then a few more weeks starting to feel better. This month or so of pain was well worth it, because the two years I spent with that girl were great.

I used to have the idea that perhaps I would get along much better with animals rather than dealing with people....

However, after dealing with so many different people in the world, I find that they are very interesting things with which to interact with, and watch.

It is true that animals can have far more loyalty, and can sometimes be far better than a majority of humanity.
However, that does not change that some of humanity can be a huge improvement over any animal, no matter how loyal.

I guess what I am trying to get at is...from a more logical standpoint, humans are the better choice for assistance and social needs.

However, from a more emotional standpoint animals are the better companion for their loyalty, as well as emotional stability that they can provide.
