Yes -- I am typing on one right now except it is the Asus G72GX with a quad core, and 7200 RPM SATA HD (actually 2X320).

Great computer. Quality build. Runs anything I throw at it in max or near max settings including some anti-aliasing.

Games I am running:

Dragon Age: Origins
Fallout 3
Bioshock
Crysis
Medieval II: Total War

Crysis however -- runs at about 20 FPS, with all high settings except shadows and no AA or Anisotropy. Of course, that's to be expected.

3DMark06 11860. (pretty damn good for a notebook, esp. at price.)

Windows 7 also is great for gaming. Approx. 30% of the resources Vista used at 64-bit.

Only drawbacks:

Huge and heavy. My Opinion: So what.
Glossy exterior shows every finger print.

And about Asus being a good company -- one of the TOP research and development firms for high performance computing. They make THE best motherboards and graphics cards, but highly expensive. Check out their website. I think you will be impressed.

They turn about 16 Billion USD per year in revenue -- they must be good at something.

Hope this helps.

In addition to making the top Motherboards and Graphic Cards, they are also one of the top Laptop makers in terms of quality and getting your money's worth. I am currently forced to use one as my desktop due to constliness and I have to say that thanks to this awesome machine, I'll definately be buying an Asus motherboard for my desktop when I eventually have the funds to build it.

I'm currently typing this on an ASUS G50VT that I got for exactly $1000 a year ago. Dual-core P8400 @ 2.27GHz, 4GB RAM, and a GeForce 9800M GT. Runs Mass Effect, CoD4, Fallout 3, and Burnout Paradise at maximum settings with no trouble.

So to answer your question, yes. Yes they are. My only real complaints are the extremely tacky flashing LEDs they put on the back of the monitor, the slightly flimsy keyboard, and the fact that they put the headphone jack on the right side.

Oh what, for some reason I thought he's talking about a motherboard. Yes, I have an N81Vg that I got for $1299 Canadian, and it runs all my games on max (BF2, BF2142, RB6V, etc). It's an amazing laptop, and the one you linked is even better and cheaper.

Be wary of Batter life. The one you linked only has an hour and 23 minutes, whereas mine has 3 hours on Battery Mode with Internet enabled and that is barely enough for me.

Depends on what you want to do. It's going to be a bit heavy as far as laptops go and its battery life will be poor at best. But for gaming it wouldn't be half bad.

Kind of redundant as there is a post from the owner of one, but i looked over the specs and it seems to be an exceptional laptop. If you can afford it, I say go for it.
