ASUS G73 laptop

I got a brand new ASUS G73 today and ran the initial set up, pulled the internet up and browsed around just to get a feel for it and the speed. Everything seemed grand till I shut the screen down, assuming like every other laptop out there it would go into a standby/hibernation status. Instead when I opened it the screen remained a lit up black, I turned it off and on using the power button, screen remained lit up and black. Even going as far as unplugging it and removing the battery has not produced any results.

Has anyone experienced similar situation or have a possible solution?

I would suggest calling the helpline that was likely listed in the manual. If that doesn't help, or work out, return it from wherever you purchased it. At this point you should be able to exchange it or get a refund.
