At Canadian Airports, Your Conversation May Be Remotely Recorded
Be careful what you say when travelling, as the authorities will soon be able to record your conversations for an indefinite amount of time [http://www.edmontonjournal.com/travel/Listening+equipment+will+record+conversations+Canadian+airports/6794642/story.html]{edmontonjournal}. This is story is about Canada, but I don't see why this will not be installed in most places, if not already.

Proposed UK Communications Law Could Be Used To Spy On Physical Mail
BBC reports that the UK's Draft Communications Bill [http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-18477158]{bbc} includes a provision which could be used to force the Royal Mail, etc, to retain data on all physical mail passing through their networks. This would include sender, recipient, type of mail and contents of a postcard. It would provide a physical analog of the recently proposed internet surveillance laws. The Home Office claims that it has no current plans to enforce the law.
