You better hope its the Blizzard part of Activision Blizzard that handles Mortal Kombat if it ever happens.

I don't understand the difference between the two. They're both the same amount of assholery to me.

Yeah, Blizzard just makes some of the more popular PC multiplayer games for them. I wasn’t aware AT&T owned WB though. Hopefully someone else picks up MK before an EA or Activision gets to it.

Don't tell me Rocksteady hasn't been doing anything for the last five years.

Didn't this news come out some time ago?

Anyway, sounds terrible for EA possibly having access to even MORE IPs, but at the same time, I kind of don't really care about any of WBs franchises. I do love the Arkham games, but they've concluded, so eh. Rocksteady and NRS are definitely talented developers, hopefully their employees aren't affected too much by whatever happens.

From the little bit of economics I've picked up over the years this is an unfortunately unsurprising move.

WB studios are likely pumping out a lot of cash into games at present so AT&T looked at the expected payments, looked at the value of the properties and studios and saw the potential money + potential future savings and have decided the short term gain is worth more to them under the theory they can use that money to make more money quicker.

I don't think a WB studio has put out a Fortnite or a Candy Crush so At&T are dropping them even though it's consistence performance and basically free IP advertising and they'll likely be trying to buy up one of the top studios instead going forward who already make something great and highly profitable. They can also then charge and get royalties off other studios for the use of WB owned IPs so it's no real expenditure having to fund studios etc but mostly just profit coming in from such deals.

To the best of my knowledge, MK is prettymuch the only IP for grabs.

LotR Stuff (Shadow series) and Batman is all Warner owned IPs that they are unlikely to give up. I'd imagine the Lego contact/agteement/whatever is also not part of the purchase either, if they still have it active even. And any other associated movie tie-ins would remain alongside Warner.

At least Blizzard has competent enough developers that makes relatively better games then Activision themselves.

And they certainly know how to handle the Esports scene better. And deep down they are still nerds that like nerdy things.

Look I get that Blizzard is on the low side of their reputation right now, but deep down I still think they can pull through with good games and support. I mean at least they are still making games I care about over Konami that just wants to make Gambling Casino games.

Well, this was the first time I heard of it. I am not on top of every single gaming news.

It don't take much effort to be better than Konami, but I see your point. But how long will Blizzard will continue to be nerds that like nerdy things? Cuz right now, I barely see a difference. Granted, I never was that in to, or played many of Blizzard's games asideo from the first two Diablos.
