In school I played baseball reasonably well and football and basketball poorly. In college and for a decade or two after I played racquetball recreationally, which I loved.

racquetball is so much fun and any one who hasn't tried it has to because it is so awesome.

Well growing up I played alot of baseball, mainly shortstop and 2nd base, then I moved to centerfield. Tried football in highschool but for some reason the coaches tried to stick me at tight end; I'm only 5'11 maybe 6'0. Needless to say I wasn't very good at the position.

A friend of mine recommended martial arts so I tried karate and loved it. Luckily my sensei has quite a bit of experience in various martial arts, so even though we're a karate class, we also incorporate elements from judo, Tae Kwon Do, Jeet Kune Do, and hapkido. Some friends and I usually get together and try and teach each other different techniques. All together our group contains a boxer, a couple of wrestlers, a Tae Kwon Do student, a fencer, a karateka (myself), and a jackass who thinks he knows everything but is easily the worst fighter among us. Its a great experience because we get to learn to adapt our fighting styles to different situations. It also gives us traditional martial artists a chance to prove that we are capable fighters.

I also do weightlifting and alot of cardio work. I finally hit my goal of 225lbs on the bench press, That may not seem like alot to some people who lift but I weigh 165lbs and I'm more interested in staying fit and cut rather than becoming big and bulky.

Bah! You and your point weapons. Sabre all the way.
Ewww, Saber. Well, at least you didn't say Foil.
That would have been a travesty. I personally enjoy epee more, but that's just because I just love to hit the knee. It's just fantastic when you pull it off.

By the way, to anyone who plays football: Please say what you had to do for conditioning practice. Like, with my team we ran, did push-ups, and sit-ups the whole time (also gassers which are not fun at all)

Arggghhhhh repressed memories flooding back....
But i was quite good at badminton for a long while, and still am!
Yeah badminton, the proverbial 'arse' of all sports jokes
I mean, shuttlecock? Come on its like they wanted people to hate me!
I mean the sport...

Awkward....

look up a place called the Parisi Speed School http://www.parisischool.com/
they have kick ass work outs for all types of sports, they made a custom training for Renzo Gracie, which my class all HATED with a passion cause it kicked your ass, but they do have stuff that football players and other sports can use.

as for me as a kid i took judo for a bit, left the school after i could toss the green belts around and i was only going up one yellow stripe at a time. spent a lot of time as a kid taking swimming lesson, never competed. i used to bike a lot, been less lately. used to play some basketball and tennis but had to give those up.

now i mostly bike, yeah for working close to home i can bike to work. i am going to go back to bjj, i did both bjj and Functional Jeet Kune Do for several years. basically FJKD is the more pure form of what Bruce Lee intended, which means if the move does not work against a live resisting opponent it's no longer taught, we would use a lot of greco-roman and freestyle wrestling, judo, muay thai, panatukan and pananjakman and lots of bjj with one or two moves from kung fu cause they were actually useful (ie shin kick, push kick and an ankle stomp)

probly going back to train with a ufc fighter for bjj, i'd like to do thai but i'm too old and it would kick the crap out of me.

as for some of the philosophies i have about here's some videos by one of the coaches i've had, he's FREAKY big, like 6'10 and moves like he's a lightweight and if you wrap him i your guard he is able to stand up and put you in the boston crab without much trouble

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=AWfK6aqWiNU
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=932XUCWlelQ

and for all the ufc fans out there SBG is has been the home of Randy Couture, Nate Quarry, Forrest Griffin and Rory Singer, both Forrest and Rory were part of the SBG when they were in the Ultimate Fighter but weren't allowed to mention their gyms

I play tennis. I usually pick the right side from the side which I can hit the ball a 1000 times while it's in the air.

Nah, I don't have a position. But like you heard, tennis is the name of the...sport.

TaeKwonDo here, I'm going a UK championship next weekend, as an 8th gup.

Doing Bo staff.

Should be interesting, wish me luck. I won't be on the Escapist this week, gotta do homework and train.

Good luck, o Danny Ocean... Hope things go well and all that...

The only sport (if you can even call it a sport) I currently do is archery- and that reminds me that I need a decent bow one of these days....

Knee? It's all about the foot. When you have your opponent so worked up about protecting their upper half of the body and you notice they leave their foot out a bit too far it works out nicely.

Edit: Unless of course they are expecting it then they hit you in the mask.
Nothing is more confusing than pulling off two consecutive takings of the blade (or whatever you are pleased to call that) in order to get a shot at the toe.

(Yeah, so I've fenced more than one weapon. Sue me.)
