So the full trailer is out-

It pretty much the same as the last one but with more people in it and you get to see the military corps! Also other than the Colossal titan, the rest of the titans shown in the trailer look so bland. Look like all of the special effects went onto him!

If I recalled correct, the teaser trailer I posted a month ago was met with not so optimistic opinions on here. Seeing the full trailer, has it convince you to give it another shot or do you think it's still going to be a failure?

If anything, I'm even less optimistic now than I was then. Then again, given that the trailer lacks subtitles and I don't speak Japanese, it's hard for me to tell how much of the Attack on Titan story they're going to include in the movie. Because, anyone that knows the Attack on Titan story, would know that the fact that Mikasa was so rare and that those of Asian-descent had been purposefully breed out of the population is a major plot point, which only highlights the flaws of the entire cast being Asian.

I'll be blunt, I haven't seen a single Japanese live-action film that I'd ever call good or non-cheesy. Looks like this one may be following that trend.

I'm still confused as well, why do they seem to be using modern military weapons against the Titans as well as medieval? I pretty sure I see cannons alongside a rocket launcher at one point. Just makes it all the more cheesier.

I actually liked the teaser from a few months ago a bit more. Now that we're in full-on drama mode I've completely lost interest again. I still may watch this eventually but the entire series has just gone right over my head. I can't see the appeal here at all but that's just me.

Is nobody going to talk about the BLATANT Asian-washing of the cast here?

I mean it's obviously the most important part of this, nevermind how decently well-done the sense of scale seems to be here and the designs being...close enough to their animated counterparts.

That looks really cool. I'd definately watch it with subtitles.

It doesn't look any worst than a transformers movie or any kind of movie that uses green screen. I just hope it's looseley based in the manga . Hell i could even see this being a proper trilogy.

Okay. Demongraphicaly speaking. How exactly do you expect japan to get to many white japanese speaking actors? I mean you are right in the sense that according to the source material, but realisticallly they couldn't do it.

It's a joke poking fun at people's internet criticisms of western movies buddy, I thought the next paragraph made that sorta clear. Wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

Though I do like Demongraphically, I'll have to use that if they ever do a InuYasha, Black Butler, or Beelzebub live-action adaptation.

Edit: forgot they did Black Butler a few years back, so just forget I said that.

I've suggested this in the last thread, and I'll suggest it again. Since it is unrealistic to cast everyone BUT Mikasa as white, they should have reversed the racial roles and have cast Mikasa as Margret, the only white person.

Oh durr. Sorry i didn't get it was a joke. I thought you were serious since like you say people do talk about white washing a lot when it comes to adaptations. My bad.

Actually that sounds like a pretty solid idea. I never thought of that.

Mm, I don't know, I kind of liked the last trailer better.

As for thoughts on the movie, I think I'll have to see it. The Colossal poking his head over the wall looked a little silly to me but the end shot of him in the last trailer and his spot in this one at 1:16 make him look pretty cool.

I like the tone, properly dark and war torn, which is something that surprised me about the anime as well, that it feels like a proper war. I mean, yeah, it is a war, but when crazy almost-Spider-Man soldiers are zipping around against giant man eating... people... the Saving Private Ryan feel was unexpected, though I think it fits pretty well, it feels good, and I like to see it translating into the movie.

Not sure how I feel about the modern weapons, I genuinely don't. I really don't care that they weren't in the anime so I really have no opinion on them until I see them in action.

Altogether, as long as the Titans and more importantly, The Colossal, are real spectacles (which seems up in the air right now but hey, it's early) I'll be pleased.
