Attention: All HD Experts

i'm a bit new to the hdtv scene and still trying to learn how to make one display properly. recently, i just bought myself a 32" Insignia. although it displays beautifully, i'm not completely satisfied with the visual output of my Xbox 360. i have my eyes on these hd cables: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360componenthdcable/ but would there be any discernable difference between these cables and the ones that came packed in with my Xbox 360 Arcade? any input would be appreciated.

doesn't the arcade only come with composite cables (3 jacks)? it only outputs in SD, the compenent is 6 jacks which is the same as a HDMI and will support full HD 1080i/p. I did the jump from SD to full HD and i will NEVER go back

Well. Start of with a HDMI cable if your TV has a HDMI input. If not you just bought a Ferrari with a golf engine.
I am no expert on Xbox outputs but i guess everything will display just fine when you're done.

The one I had came with the component cables and displayed quite nicely over my screen. I don't have my 360 anymore so I can't remember if I had to run a setup or not to allow it to display over various definitions.

Does your TV have a slot marked HDMI? If so go out and buy an HDMI cable. You'll thank me later.

HDMI is much just easier in everyway, thats my setup atm.

There is an option in there somewhere you can change it but usually it auto detects what you have plugged in and the best resolution it can display

Ah yea that's what I figured. When I got my PS3 I found that I had to manually tell it what definitions it could display in, so I wasn't entirely sure about the 360.

I think the only need to change is if you want it Progressive as opposed to Interlaced.
Offtopic: has anyone noticed a difference between the 2, i know the diffence but i just cannot notice a difference?

between progressive and interlaced? it's very noticeable at 480p vs. 480i. progressive always has the benefit of displaying accurately per-pixel, rather than having to interlace frames. motion is also more accurate because of its full-frame transmission. at 1080, the difference between i and p is half-frame versus full-frame per second. if you have both available, p is absolutely better even if the difference isn't apparent. in theory, i could offer some frame-rate performance improvements but i also doubt that would be noticeable.

I have mine set to be progressive i was told it was better in theory. Yeah i can't really see much of a difference but then again i am not massive on graphics as long as the text is clear

Ive seen countless numbers of people go out and buy a hd cable, plug it in and start playing while thinking god this new hd picture is amazing, then i tell them they haven't yet set the console to hd and they go red immediately lol. DONT FORGET TO CHANGE THE CONSOLE SETTINGS TO HD DUMBASS!
