I'll make this quick. I'm looking into getting myself a motorcycle (a cruiser to be exact). But somethings been nagging me in the helmet department. is it considered "tacky" to wear a full-faced helmet with a cruiser bike....or should i not give a damn what anybody thinks and just ride like i wanna ride? lol. any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a feeling that most posts will tell you to wear whatever you like and screw whatever people think. I agree with them.

Wear whatever's the safest.
After seeing a motorcycle accident when I was a little girl, I'm terrified of them, though...

The most important part of riding a bike is enjoying the shit out of it.

Anything beyond that is people taking things too seriously.

But then again all things in life are like that :)

When it comes to helmets, I think to myself 'would I rather have my bare face scraping the ground, or have some facial protection?', but the prospect of riding a chopper with a German army helmet is a tempter...

Wear whatever is in compliance with the local laws.

Here you just need some sort of eye protection.

If you have the chutzpah just get a plain old pedal bike, when you speed past the motorists who rely on such pathetic things as fuel to get them to point a to point b you can laugh.

Get the terminology right, mister. We're cyclists not bike riders. Remember that, or you'll not be accepted among us.

Hell, I ride an actual bicycle and I know that.

Exactly what I do. Whenever there's a line of cars in front of a red light, I just squeeze between them and the curb, and either get on the sidewalk and cross in the crosswalk, or ride alongside the front car. However, people honk and startle me sometimes.

Wear a top hat and a monacle.

EDIT.. Having gone back to look at other peoples posts it appears alot of the avatars are wearing top hats and monacles, could this be subliminal messaging?

Nope.

You didn't see anything.

Just turn around, and keep walking, Agent Mulder.

there are more than just the full face ones

first off tho i will suggest checking out your helmet laws where you live, they vary on what they consider legal

then go to a harley shop or at least a shop that doesn't sell just rice rockets and look at their helmets. you don't have to get one that covers the front of your face but you can have some that go to about your ear or so but check with the shop cause they'll be able to tell you the laws for helmets

Really you should wear whatever you want to, I don't see how a full faced helmet would seem tacky on a cruiser. Gravel rash on your face would seriously suck though, I always thought helmets that don't cover your face were not safe enough personally.

This. Wear a full-face helmet. I've seen people whose faces have been ground up by wearing one of the half-style ones. Not pretty.
