I'm the proud new owner of an User Group, but my membership has been lacking of late, comprising of only 2. I'm wondering which is the best way to increase the size of the group. Should I simply wait for people to come, or post threads about it? Or is there another way?

There's really no way to get people into a group unless it's advertised, subtle plugs are your best option

Send some PM's to people you feel would be interested in that group. Worked for the America Group.

Trivia, huh? You've got a new member. But posting threads is not good idea - PM your friends who you think will be intrested.

Ah, thanks for advice.

Welcome to Trivia Night, by the way.

Posting threads is advertising. You're welcome to do that through your profile page but spamming up the forums will see them locked and you possibly suspended.

And lo, with a swish of her long hair and jacket, a tip of her bowler's rim the BanSMop Ninja disappeared off into cyber space, her job done precisely to time once again.

[Stephen Fry voice] You're weird!. [/voice]

But the internet loves you nonetheless :p

OT: You could also hop on to the Escapist IRC and plug your group there. There is always a bunch of homeless people mods and users on who might take interest in your user group, provided you got a good sales pitch for it. It worked for the Spanish Inquisition and it's now one of the largest groups (if not the largest group) around.

Just don't just pop a link and say "here..join this" or use CAPS. People get very angry!.
