I hope M rated games get banned in Australia. That day will be a major victory for pirates.

There's a show. Called Penn and Tellers Bullshit. They did an episode on videogame violence where they took a 10 year old who played ultra violent games constantly and had him shoot a gun on a range.

The bang it made scared him so bad he started crying.

Videogames do not = Real life. Videogames can HELP train military men this is true, but until you've gone out and really shot a gun there is NOTHING there.

PS: I am a Christian and I love shooting people in the face. But only in Videogames, i'm not Dick Cheyney

It's awesome he was in the SAS, but he loses so much credibility for being in a Christian organization, at least from me.

I'm glad I don't live in Australia. My parents have been talking about moving as there are a lot of good jobs for nursing professionals like my mum, but there's no cool videogames!
if you can't figure out how to obtain your own uncensored copy of L4D2, i'm pretty sure we don't fucking want you here

also; people listen to what christian groups say? lul

I would totally agree with the idea that games are just like an SAS training regime, that is if the SAS trained only fat kids who just want to 'headshot noobs'. I can see it now, terrorist insurgents throwing down their weapons in defeat as a dozen obese kids in ill-fitting fatigues abseil through a skylight and call each other 'fags' before waddling to the nearest vending machine for a snack.

Look out Al Qaeda, they're coming. For you!
That...just made my whole day, ;). Thank you, good sir.

Two things....

First.
SAS trains you to use a pistol like a knife (press to body and fire) in close and personal encounters (for quick disable and lower chance of injury to yourself and other friendlies).

Any gamer knows a knife or chainsaw is the up-close and personal weapon of choice....

Second.
This guy and his oragnisation are not a gamers, so his very participation in the debate disproves his contention that only gamers would be invloved...

Also, due to strict gun laws in Australia many more people are killed in car accidents than gun deaths.

Why are we not banning driving games that encourage speeding?

Since he's gone through real SAS training and hasn't gone on a killing spree yet, why would people doing fake SAS training do so? And with what? His argument is totally without merit, not that it needed saying.

Shhhh! Don't let them find out about GTA!

more OT: I can see where he is coming from but, I disagree with him completely(except that games are preparing us for the military, he has the exp points, I don't). I dislike their stance on why games are bad because it depends largely on 2 things that piss me off.
1)That us gamers are stupid. I Know that, yes, people can be complete dumb asses and dicks, and yes i know people will sometimes imitate what they see from media, but rarely does this happen if it's animated(obviously so) and violent. I know XBL is filled with immature 13 year olds who are just hitting puberty, but that's all it is, puberty. The few should not be an image conduit for the whole(unless we're talking a good few).
2) That games are too good as a media. I mean, they basically just gave us the ultimate compliment and turned it into a bad thing. I hate it when people do this.
Games are not responsible for killings, people are. Punish the individual, not the industry(at least in this case).
