To all of you Australian gamers out there, I'm sure you're just as frustrated as me with the counrty's horrific internet speeds. The lag we always get, the times we just disconnect for no reason. I know you've all had them.
So I want to know this; would a government's plans of an uber fast, nationwide internet service win your vote at the next election?
I had a think about it today when i passed a federal MP's office, and I wondered what the rest of you thought.

I don't much follow politics, but if they made that claim, my first step would be to investigate why they were doing it.

If they really intended to do nothing more than give us more internets? Sure, why not.

If they did it as part of a grander plan to make their gigantic ban-filter work properly? Thanks, but no thanks.

At the moment I'm more concerned with the internet filter. But probably not, I tend to ignore promises.

Firstly, I wouldn't believe them.
Secondly, I wouldn't believe them.
Thirdly, I wouldn't believe them.

Australian politicians are bastards, and all their promises are empty. Only if a statement was made similar to that Finland just did, stating that fast internet speeds would be regarded as a basic service, like postal services and telephones, would I even begin to believe them.

At this stage not being Tony Abbott wins my vote.

It would be good but it's not so important that it would lead me to overlook anything else they say.

Come on, let's be honest here. It's never gong to get finished. Plus, do you really want to vote in a party that is trying to filter our internet?

my view is that they will clip that net censorship thing to it so we end up like china.

alone, no. But it shouldnt be a freaking politician to suggest it, why the crap havent we gotten it already, i swear little johnny promised something like that at one point.

And to be honest, i dont mind my internet speed, the only problem i have is when TPG seems to completely shit itself and not have connection for like 8 hours. JUST WHEN IM TRYING TO DO SOMETHING.

Let's face it, they all lie anyway. Every local election up where I live, at least one candidate bangs on about how they'll get the state government to put in a train line out to our suburb. Every election, they fail to do so. Instead, we got a whacking great big new bridge for no ostensible reason.

This is why I've voted Independent for some time now.

I'm too young to vote, but it would certainly make me interested enough to check it out further before deciding anything. But I rarely play online and am content with my internet speed, but having it even faster would be super cool.

Not as long as the Mandatory ISP Filter is on the agenda with the NBN, absolutely not. But then again Campbell Newman is trying to bring Brisbane our own privately constructed Fibre optic network.

Anyway, I'll be voting below the line at the election. Need Democrats and Greens in office to block such legislations.

There should be a electoral process to remove people from power. If politicians don't keep promises, they're replaced with someone who does. Would beat the system of putting someone in power based on empty words with no ability to get rid of them.

But that would be a real democracy..what are you thinking? Where would the western world be then?

If there was no real difference between party policy (or no difference that I cared about), it would definitely swing the vote.

I would love it if they brought out greater speeds and download limits that would be absolutely awesome, however i wouldn't base my vote on that one issue. In my honest opinion i made up my mind who i wanted to vote for long ago but the thought of an internet filter i think is despicable, the internet filter alone can change my vote.

Vote green :D
Say no to the filter.
And then put the ALP as second pref so they get the swing and you keep the liberal idiots out of power ;D
The filter is the only thing that really matters, the broadband network will be good, but the filter will destroy it.
