Probably no worse then WoW. I get a 300-500 ping on most USA based games. And that's with a sub-par internet connection.
How was WoW's latency upon release? I only played it for a year or so, and that was after the game had been out for a year or so. All kinds of improvements must have been made in the interim.

They've been reasonably clear on this for a while, but forumites like to whine until they see things said three times over in bold print. I suppose I can't blame them. EA/Bioware was just a bit too optimistic in how everyone would handle this. Maybe the shitstorm is a good thing. Means people actually want to play it. If no one were complaining, they'd be in dire straits indeed.

Oh, I don't play WoW anymore. So can't comment on that. Sorry.

Wait, are you serious? EA is busy touting Origin as this big kinghitter that's going to go head to head with Steam, and they're actually going to TURN AWAY PEOPLE'S MONEY when it comes to one of their biggest exclusives?
In my opinion this is basically due to EA history. It appears there can be only one possible motivation to block digital pre-order ...

To get people to buy pre-order in physical stores.

Now, weather the reason for this is the EA's agreements with stores or the fact that digital pre-orders are easier to cancel, it's unclear. But they definitely are not using same digital sales model as Blizzard used for Cataclysm, meaning both digital and physical pre-order were equally available.
