Auto save failures

I just got screwed over trying to play Mass Effect. I almost made it across a room crawing with these bug-alien enemies and got killed as I pressed the button on the elevator to safety. Imagine my dismay when the auto save sent me back to half an hour ago. That got me to thinking, and now I'd like to know if anyone else has had these kinds of experiences with bad auto save.

Ha! im home sick( been out a week) and thought i'd go through both the kotors. im on the second one now, set me back almost literally an hour. i got pissed off and just bullrued my way back to where i was, ignoring everything else.

I don't know if they patched this by now, but when I played through Dawn of War II for the first time, occasionally the game would crash and quit to Windows desktop right during the transition from the 'Mission Success' screen to the mission hub. Unfortunately, that is when the game automatically saves, so basically I had to pray to the Omnissiah every time I had successfully finished a difficult mission so as hopefully not to lose my progress and be forced to restart the entire damn mission.

Oh, I had almost forgotten about kotor. It seems as though Bioware do this as a joke, doesn't it?

I had a real autosave failure in Mass Effect where it autosaved inside a fucking elevator on Feros. The problem was that, when I died, it sent me back inside the elevator, and it didn't know which level it was on, and, because I was inside, I couldn't trigger the elevator to move. Both doors stayed shut, the elevator didn't go anywhere, and I was literally STUCK in there, with no way of getting out.

I had to load a save that was over an hour old.
