Avatar help

So I've been having some problems with changing my avatar on this site. I want to change my avatar to a picture,

But when I do, the site just won't have it show up. It displays no error messages or anything like that, the site acts like everything's working fine. But it always shows my avatar as a broken JPEG after I change it to that specific picture. This has also happened once in the past with one particular picture as well, but only ever once.

To illustrate my point a bit, I currently have that picture set as my avatar right now, and all I'm seeing under my name is the icon for a broken JPEG.

So can anyone give me any advice on this? Does the site just hate this one picture out of the many I've used as my avatar?

EDIT: Okay, for some reason the picture suddenly decided to work. Apparently it just took an incredibly long time to show up.

So, in the interest of not having this thread be completely pointless, anyone know why that might be?

I believe the delay was because you have a ton of posts and your new avatar was being applied across the system. Also, there's the standard action of having to delete your internet cache in order for the new image to show up. Did you do that this time as well?

I just changed mine, but the switch was very quick this time. I'm afraid that the servers have been having a hard time lately, especially considering that this site has crashed in the past two weeks or so.

It's not like each individual post has to be updated with the new picture - they all point to the same location.

Anyway, I am pretty sure it was a cache issue - clearing it solves probably 80% of all issues, if not more.

Ah, you got a different problem. Sometimes images fail to upload properly or something. But what you should do is change the image slightly and upload it again - try saving it as .png, for example - that should be enough. Otherwise, if you try to upload it again, the system regards it as the same image and discards it.

I just tried to change mine for the first time HOURS ago, and its still a broken jpeg. I logged out, deleted cookie, cleared temp files etc. and still waiting. I'd try to use my old one but it would probably create a rift in the matrix.

Yay for happy gif though.
