I recently watched the movie everyone has been howling into my ear about. Avatar, written and directed by James Cameron a very exceptionally talented movie producer. Before I go any further let me please state that I know I'm behind the curve on movies and games but practice make perfect. Anyway I thought the movie had unquestionably fantastic graphics and an equal in the soundtrack, but something that itched at the back of my developing teenage brain was, "Does this have anything to do with America in the Middle East?".

I'm not one for politics but if there is something that gets under my skin faster than an unreasonable hate for others its movie writers attempting to change your views on politics or religion in a universe that doesn't exist. I know that seems callous to others, but there were multiple pinpoints that killed the immersing experience more than once. Why does the military appear brutish and simple minded? Doesn't this make American military or any military force look like anything other than a huge warmongering beast that hungers for blood? Why does this movie portray corporate business as a baby seal eating monstrosity? I know this ties in with my own views and that anyone that reads this and finds my opinions appalling, please write bellow a well written argument instead of having "youtuber comment sindrome" its what makes The Escapist different.

Back to the discussion, other than the amazing universe that Cameron has created does this movie deserve its fame on its ideals? I know that sounds illogical that movies should be based around reality, but does appealing to the public in the lowest form justify the dollars earned? I leave it to you, readers on The Escapist to criticize or agree with me.

Personally I'm not one for getting any political reasoning out of movies however it did seem to have more relevance to Native Americans.

Also the story was incredibly boring and predictable. The only thing it had going for it was the graphics and 3D. And 3D's either a fad or going to improve, depending on who you ask, either way Avatar loses out

Higher tech people trying to hone in on a lesser tech culture to take there land/resources or for various other reasons, usually set up to make the underdog side the oppressed and victoms of a more advanced culture some would even call evil. There's like a thousand other things you can compair it to that fit that setup. Some say how the US is doing in the Middle East, some say early America and the Natives. The story is old, its just a new coating of paint on it is all.
