Avatars and You

I only change when I notice a clip that has potential to be loop gif avatar (my prefer avatar of style) and also seeing if that character is popular or not (how many people are using that character as their avatar). Not hipster per say since I'm using my current avatar when I notice her popularity (using her as avatar wise) had died down a few months ago, that when I came in with my new avatar!

I'm sticking with the theme of Rainbow Dash wearing glasses.

I will change it during special events.

I will keep a gallery of my previous avatars on my profile.

The glasses will change, sometimes a helmet or a hat will appear as well.

Rainbow Dash's position will also change, rarely.

I've only changed my avatar once and that was for March Madness, but I changed it back.

I like this avatar too much.

I've played with the idea of making it into a gif of some sorts though, but then I get lazy and forget the whole thing.

I change my avatar if I change my name. And like that. New avatar. To be fair though, I didn't change my name for three years.

I used to like changing it but now everyone associates me with my current avatar. On a selfish note I like when people keep their avatars (or change it to a similar avatar) because I find I recognize people better by their avatar rather than their name.

Agreed. Images are much more unique and easy to remember (at least for me) than strings of often-nonsensical text. I always try to have a fairly unique avatar and stay consistent... plus this one occasionally gets me shout-outs from fellow aficionados.

It is pretty awesome when people guess my avatar correctly. There are so many black cats in anime it is pretty easy to get them confused.

I have only ever had two avatars. My old one was a Nazgul, and I also had a different username back then.

I very rarely change my avatar, mostly because I pick a decent one and stick with it.

Many many years ago I had an avatar of Squall from FFVIII. Does anyone else remember that?

Now I'm on the Basil train though, and much happier. I might change my avatar again soon, but I'm going to stick with Basil because he is more awesome than anyone else in the history of anything.

It's just a bit hard to find decent pictures of him, so I may have to resort to making my own, which is annoying.

I had a simple avatar, but after like the first 2 or 3 months I switched to an avatar of Bullseye, and plan to keep that as a constant. I only switched it once, but sooner or later, I might switch again.

I keep my avatar the "same" because I love Torrasque so much, but change it when I find a new Torrasque avatar that I enjoy more. For example, it was a still picture of Torrasque's head for the longest time, but when the Heart of the Swarm trailer came out, I got the awesome <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Caramel+Frappe>Caramel Frappe to make me a gif of the Ultralisk in that trailer, which looks much better than my old Ultralisk avatar.
I intend to keep my avatar as Torrasque for the foreseeable future because that is how I identify myself online, changing it to something else would just be weird.

I must say that I am too lazy to look up a cool avatar, though this one the escapist provides I like, so I went with it. Not that I'm well known or anything, having made a grand total of 15 posts in 5 months.
