While i'm aware that it takes a certain degree of immaturity to be a gamer, it seems to be in abundance here. Everywhere I turn there's the puffed out chests and bravado that comes with being a teenager with anonymity. Arguing weather cod is better than bf is the modern day equivalent of 'my dad can batter your dad,' not to mention half of the threads these days are from adolescents wanting help with their schoolwork, it seems to weedle its way into almost every thread.
So, my question is this, how old is the average escapist?
Also, pls make the ponies go away
Well, I don't know the average age of Escapist users (maybe a poll?), but I'm nearing 28 if it helps with your statistics.
I also think there's a big difference between people who frequent and read the Escapist Magazine (articles, videos, podcast, etc) and Escapist *forums* users. My guess is that you'd find the average of the former is greater than the average age of the latter. I, for one, don't have the time or energy to spend on threads which argue that CoD is better than BF or vice versa.

105 here. ..... What??!?! It says so on my profile. Go look. Surely if its printed on the internet it must be true.

Simply put the "average" age of the community is around 20-22 years old.

17. Soon to be 18 in November.

Have been on here for less than a year.(I'm actually just saying this to avoid the mods low content rules)

I'm 14. I'm guessing the average age is 20-21 though. It nice to have people of all ages here, it adds some nice diversity to the threads.

23 going to 24 next May.

Many have said it before, so I'll say it again. Personally, I don't care about the ponies. Don't feel like watching the cartoon, but I won't tell people not to mention/talk about something they like (or turning them into funny memes). Like any media, if you don't like it, don't watch it/read it, but don't deny other people of doing that, or you just might find yourself as a intolerant person.

I have no idea what my mental age might be (I hope it's higher than it seems to me), but I believe it's better to have some level of immaturity through life, than to be an old, annoying and fun-draining person, living in the past and damned forever to not accept new things, or at least learn to live with them.

Also, OP, why don't you tell us your age, too?

im 20! And I usually find the average age on here between like 17 and 28. So the average would be 22.5...yeah that sounds about right.

47, and still jive and down with the hip youngsters of today.
Help! There's a middle aged Escapist trying to relate to me!

On a less serious note: I'm 22 but feel like a toddler.

I'm 19. Slightly ahead in some fields, a lot behind in others.
I feel bad for bumping this thread =(.

Also, I actually see more posts whining about ponies than actual pony posts.

I'm 31-going-on-17. Age doesn't exactly equal maturity. It's all subjective anyway.

It seems like 38 year olds on here do think alike.

And no, I don't understand the pony thing either. Here in the UK MLP is a show for primary school girls; why 20-something blokes would profess a love for it is beyond me.
Well for starters there are two things you should be aware of:
1) We're talking about a new MLP series that debuted last year with entirely new everything.
2) The person behind it's creation was Lauren Faust, known for her work on PowerPuff Girls and Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends (both also very popular shows).

If you know those things and are still dismissive then all I can suggest is that it pays to keep an open mind. It's a good show. The jokes are funny, the characters are relatable, the references are clever (seriously, Star Wars, Star Trek, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Benny Hill, Alice in Wonderland...and this is only what I noticed, mind you). The team that created it are people our own (well, your own, actually) age, and they set out to make a show that they themselves could enjoy. Yes it's about pastel equines, but the characters could be human and it wouldn't change anything other than a bit of terminology. The way I see it, true quality is universal. I'm not going to deny myself entertainment just because no one had any idea I'd enjoy it.

I'm 17, to be 18 in March. Ponies have never really bugged me.

My favorite colour is blue. Pleasure to meet you.
