Funny how MSE, made by Microsoft, doesn't pick up on any of these 'threats' that AVG does. Guess perhaps MS don't need EA to pay them to make false positives.

The bottom line is something we (should) all already know: stay away from hacks and cracks, kids!
Sure, i'll just continue to carry around the dozens of DVDs and CDs for my games instead of spending 30 seconds downloading and applying a crack. And why not avoid hacks? I love paying for on-disc content. No reason my $110 game should have that content unlocked already or anything.

And trainers are very evil, too. Why, my single player only game doesn't WANT me to be able to outrun the level 3 cops (looking at you Test Drive Unlimited), so surely i musn't use the 300kb program to drop the level down.

The risk of infection is very low indeed if you are intelligent. Legit hack sites are out there (I'm not telling! They are just out there although a quick Google search will point you where you want to go.) sure you'll have to pay a sub for them but youll find the best service there and people who actually care about you wasting a month of sub money because the hack was detected (which more often than not takes a loooong while).

as for cracks... well there are more than enough ways to determine what is safe to dl and what isnt ;)

hahahah... HA!

I checked out filestube, it's one of those terrible filehosts that always returns at least 4 'sponsored' files that are generated from your search string, in order to look like the thing you were searching for. So you can already know that at least 4 results are malicious. Oh! and it also is a meta-search, so it searches other similar file hosts. And for each other file host you search, you get another 4 'sponsored' files that are just malware with an automatically generated name based on your search string(as most filehosts duplicate this practice).

So you should expect that you'll get alot of malware, at least 4 * the number of filehosts on the internet. Even if only 15 of the search engines filetube depends upon are as shady as it is(and most are), you practically guarantee that the first two pages of results are nothing but malware.

And this is no matter what you search, in fact the first string I tried was AVG, and holy shit, looks like >50% of AVG installers are malware, at least another 20% that look like actual AVG installers probably contain malware.

That's strange... When did I ever show you my computer? Oh wait, never. Well then, I'm sorry but I can't take that opinion. It would be false.
Well, as i havent seen your computer, the point still stands.
It would be a little hard to show you in some manner that it works fine, I think. But to me, the point fails because it doesn't apply to me, so you can't argue it with me. No matter what you say, the compy's in good shape. Myth busted.

I report you for being rude and harassing me. You say one thing, I don't see it. Then, you insult my stuff for no other reason than to try and make you right when you have nothing to work with. You do this ALOT and that's why you get suspended. Now, before you get angry, I suggest you NOT do so and avoid mod trouble, but also stop this.

Well, you insinuated that my sweet laptop - an Alienware that'll play the latest games for a long time coming - is a haven for viruses because you THINK that my anti-virus, my firewall, my system checks, my other utilities, and my personal attention to detail - not to mention a more technically-inclined older brother who knows machines even better than I and recommended AVG because it DOES work - (but mostly about the anti-virus), is somehow not efficient. Do you know how many viruses I find on this thing in the...year-and-a-half to two years I've had it? Not many. Anything that does get in is the uber-sneaky shit, which I find and destroy. So yeah, makin' me feel bad. I know how to own, operate, and look after technology. I take good care of my equipment and that which I use to support it...works. I'm sorry if you've had a bad time of it, if that is the hang-up in question. Maybe Avast is better, I don't know, but AVG has done well.

Well, I don't use any anti-virus and I don't download any hacks for my games, so maybe that's the answer, best of both worlds.

It's a shame people can be so easily fooled to download things from un-trusted sources.

I have said that AVG is know for its false positives. that is true. I have also said i havent seen AVG without a virus, which is also true because i havent seen your computer.
Not sure why you mentioned that your computer is an alienware laptop, but if you tried to get some kind of rage induction from it you didnt. I have many arguments against using alienware, but this is not the right discussion for that.
It seems that you put a lot of effort to secure your computer and use much more resources than relying simply on AVG, which puts you into whole very smart, minority of computer users. Most computer users just put antivirus in and leave it do its work alone for years without checking again. AVG is not good in those conditions.
Ive had avast for 7 years now. You know how many viruses i found in the computer with other checks? zero. If you want to argue that your AVG lets in little viruses in, then my argument is as good as yours. However i think we can both agree that Neither argument really stands for very much on the general scale.
Once again, i am sorry if you felt insulted, that wasnt my intention at all.

probably a lot. Most cracks use some sort of exploit to bypass DRM, which tends to flag them as malware.
