I remember muttering "Oh yeah, some double barrel fun time".

I have now gotten a few #1 scores in matches playing as marine and alien. Enough to form an informed opinion.

I'm now glad they didn't call it AvP3 because this is not a proper sequel to AvP or AvP2. (Before flaming you might want to consider that the developers have effectively said as much in interviews. It was all animation this, movie-like that, "bringing the game to the less hardcore audience which requires more focus on story.")

On the PC this is a decidedly mediocre console port. Rage-inducingly bad controls at times - you can feel the console pad through your keyboard and mouse. Vision system dumbed down to a shadow of its former self. (Should have gone back to AvP's wonderful system and tweaked it.) LOL MELEE LOL. Nothing they can add or tweak at this point will take this game above 7/10 because the problems are deep in the core of the game. I might pick it up used for cheap.

The PC version is a disgrace, I'm fine with games being console exclusive, hell I prefer console exclusive games than half assed PC games. The matchmaking is probably the worst matchmaking system I've ever used, and that's no small feat, it seems to favor matchmaking me to international hosts (who incidentally shut the game down when the realize some 6 out of 8 players have 6 digit pings). Not fun, from what I've seen it plays a lot worse than the second, which is disapointing (they didn't even bother taking out the consoles auto aim, it may work to a consoles advantage but it royally fucks PC gameplay....it's not even a major change to remove it).

I suppose it's my own fault for expecting an equally fast paced game, the balance in the last one was brilliant among semi skilled players, if only the engine was less buggy :(

Well, it all comes down to Deathmatch. That mode is fucking awful with AvP. A single player deamo, or hell, a team based mode if they really are serious with making a multiplayer demo would've been an better idea.

Frankly, beside the matchmaking that is a bit clunky at times on the PC, this is a definite buy for me. If you look a bit further above, I've linked a video of me as a Marine. I couldn't find the controls more intuitive than they already are.

You make it look stupidly easy.

I'm starting to enjoy a lot more of the game, but I still royally suck at it. Was never a big fan of deathmatch besides games like Quake or the ol' Half Life Deathmatch, but in this game where it's suppose to be more slow paced and tactical(lulwut) doesn't really fit. Or at least it doesn't fit with me.

WTB Team deathmatch demo or a SP demo.

Playing as an Alien sucks.

Transitions between walking on walls and floors and ceilings feels awkward and confusing.
Melee attacks were essentially useless when fighting anything that wasn't another Alien. Since you have no ranged attacks, if the enemy sees you before you get close enough to melee, you're fucked.
Even against another Alien, the standard reaction is to try and strafe around but that makes attacking fruitless since it's so hard to aim a melee while moving sideways.

I'll save my money, got better games to buy.

Well I have the game pre-ordered. I'd be happy to play the demo with anyone on steam if they would like too add me.

The one match I had, this was all I did.

The balance looks more solid this time around. Predators don't destroy everyone, and Marines don't completely suck. However, in doing that they have removed a lot of the horror from the game. As one of the big high points of playing a Marine was being so freakin' scared that you were going to die. As you generally were going to get your ass handed to you.

I still feel a better idea would have been caps on races, leaving Pred's to be OMGWTF Awesome, and Aliens to be that middle range.
I'm not going to deny you that, the balance is solid. I was expecting Marines to be easy prey but they're really not.
The preds piss me off though, so hard.

I'm playing steam just so you know.

I kick ass as the Alien. Anyone who doesn't just doesn't know how to play it. There is a fair amount of skill involved with keeping orientation. You need to do the hit and run strategy.

I have to agree that only giving deathmatch was a mistake. To be good it needs some sort of teamwork so that strategies can emerge. I hope the quality of the end game sorts out the technical issues of the demo. Oh and PC better have dedicated servers.
Well the demo will be vastly different I do believe.

Also, please tell me how to keep orientation.
Seriously, it's driving me mental.
