Right, just brought the PC version today after much debate.

When I heard they was making another AvP game, was really excited.
Heard the reviews and opinions after it was released, felt a bit deflated about the bad wrap it got.

Watched Alien 1,2,3 and 4 recently, Predator 1 and 2, and both the AvP Movies, thought "Ya know, Alien rocks, Predator kicks ass, I'm just gonna buy the game anyway"

I've not giggled to myself in a game quite as much in ages as I back peddle away from a bunch of aliens armed with little more than a maglite and a pea-shooter.

Yeah it's not big and its not clever but it's old-school feeling, it's got aliens, Predators and piss-ant little humans getting fucked over in the middle. Sold.

I love the game. Its true to the universe, each campaign feels like it should, given the race played, and more importantly, it's great fun to play.

Well, that's good, I guess. I respect your opinion, and kindly disagree with you.

hmmm, i liked the game (so far)

and i do think its very (urgh) "atmospheric"

but the classes are rather unbalnced, aleins die reallllly quick, marines never run out of ammo, and the predators just swan about killing everyone

I don't play multiplayer as I respect my sanity, so my opinion is based on the campaigns.

I think they could have fleshed out the Alien campaign a little more. Actually, just lengthening their campaign in general would make me happy as I blazed through it even on the hardest difficulty. Also I kida wish they didn't hold out so much on giving the Predator it's different weapons so much as you don't get the last one til literally the last level. I personally wanted more time to play with it. The marine campaign was fine, though I will say I freaking loathed the facehuggers.

The online system and the menus were absolutely terrible on the demo but those things could conceivably be fixed in the retail version, whereas the rest of my complaints cannot.

PC-specific - controls are bad. Field of view is obviously designed for consoles and does not belong in a modern-day PC game.

All versions - all mechanics, movement, vision system dumbed down from the first game. The close combat system is terrible, smells of a desperate attempt to put a little cheap random excitement in an already failing game. Graphic design - especially the vision modes - is bad, maybe they were too preoccupied with cranking out headline-grabbing gore to do solid work.

Another theory, maybe Rebellion just has a really low opinion of the console audience and developed a game it thought would sell to them. In any case I can't see how they would ever have seriously thought this is good work for the PC.

it may be good, but it lacks in everything.

in each campaign there are flaws, also, the scenario is very basic and linear. the gameplay in the marines is just Oldschool fps and they can't even Duck ! the AI sucks a lot, they are just idle and die, and sometimes you can even kill one of the 2 guys patroling without letting the other one notice you when you're at 10cm from him...

note to self: the levels are empty and dull.

I found it to be very fun, especially from the viewpoint of the aliens. I like ceiling running then jumping onto my target

If you're being shot at while playing as the Alien, you did it wrong.

Also, if you're playing on any difficulty other than Normal, ammo in the Marine campaign is a precious commodity.

Point 1: It's not big
Point 2: It's not clever
Point 3: It's old school feeling

Those are the three main criticisms too. Someone earlier complained about lack of depth, and I agreed with that as well, to a certain extent.

Me, I still had fun. I was still scared as the Marine, I still enjoyed stalking people as the Predator, and I still enjoyed eating faces as the Alien.

The whole trophy/stealth kill thing is absolutely amazing, and it still hasn't gotten old for me, really. I continue to be shocked and entertained.

Also, people tend to generalize the length issue.

It's true that the alien campaign is quite short, but it's meant to be the hardest, while the predator, and especially the Marine campaigns are of decent length.

yeah i know

but death isnt just an inconvineance in this game

checkpoints were a fair bit away for all characters, once as the predator i died and had to watch this little cutscene thing again and then do a jumping puzzle before i could continue

but oh well, im a little bitter because i loaded up the predator campeign yesterday and i was back on levele one, it was the same for the aliens and marines too, i tryed levele select and everything....grrrr

I love the game. It gave me everything I wanted in it. I can stalk people from the walls and ceilings as a Xenomorph. I can Plasma Cast someone into tiny bits while cloaked from a tree as a Predator. And I can scream "Game over, man! Game over!" as my Colonial Marine empties his last clip into a rush of oncoming aliens.

I call that giving me what I wanted. I enjoy the game.

The multiplayer is.... meh.
