You like all of those bands and you don't have Avenged Sevenfold? As in, the best band to come around since Metallica in 1981? Yeah, get their stuff now. Everything from Sounding the Seventh Trumpet to Nightmare (including Diamonds in the Rough), all of it.

Also Metallica and Iron Maiden.

So many great bands, and yet... You missed Emperor?

No, seriously. Emperor. Emperor is all you need.
I am saddened as well. Emperor is one of my all time biggest influence bands; once i began to listening to them, Arch Enemy and Children of Bodom back in my high school days, I really opened my mind up to a whole universe of music that too many people will never enjoy.

My contribution to the thread: Fen and Dark Tranquility

FUCK! Giant list, accidentally clicked one of the most popular links below.
The greatest hits.
Avantasia. (If you like Power Metal at all check them out. So many guest vocalists.)
Dream Theater.
Judas Priest.
Austrian Death Machine.
Lamb Of God.
EDIT: Also Judas Priest. Again. The album Painkiller. Amazing.

Akercocke
Blackened Progressive Death Metal or whatever. They have more layers in their music than an onion.

Opeth
Progresssive Death Metal. My personal favourite.

Strapping Young Lad
Great music with an undefinable genre. Just listen to it.

Also get the Alaska album by said band.

(Languages other than English are noted.)

At War With Gods [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ND3kq9UjNFM]
Attila [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtN3novxF_0]
The Black Dahlia Murder [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DcAjsZU3ik]
Black Veil Brides [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09HV_X1qYNQ] (I recommend the new album, not the first by any means.)
Dir En Grey [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7IXmV6A6Bk] (Japanese)
Eisbrecher [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19ViROuEtJk] (German)
Exist Trace [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CVaO80vUwc] (Japanese)
Eyes Set to Kill [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nb9O0pPAklc]
HIM [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QO2DUDKmaEk]
In Flames [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1FkbvGl-IU]
Job for a Cowboy [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeZIfbPKzGE]
Kamelot [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qdcl67H1Jw]
Otep [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40pT1211uag]
Panzerballett [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkeTiQZx6TE] (Jazz/metal fusion, not a lot of vocals, definitely worth a look.)
Rammstein [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIBeYoP9Wi0] (German)
Scars on Broadway [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOY_UV9GhIM]
Shemales From Outta Space of Death [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlmY_GiDaWE] (German)

Versus the Ocean [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-Lj-RSm2OY]
We Butter The Bread With Butter [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6x2r_STuns] (German)

I tried to filter out the hardcore and post-hardcore bands as best as I could, since those are closer to punk than metal. I see a lot of people mistake it for metal.

I can add those in if you want, though.

If you like melodic death metal or "Göteborg-metal" (like In Flames and Soilwork), you're gonna love Sonic Syndicate. Just ignore their last album, as they've taken a new route. Some of the members wanted to keep their previous direction, and thus formed their own band (The Unguided), though.

Edit: The guy above me beat me to it. (The song he linked isn't one of my favourites, though.) :p
