What are some of your favorite stories about non-immediate family members or any other adults that had a positive impact on you as a kid? What did they do that made them awesome? Why were they such a great role model?

As of two weeks ago, I'm a first time aunt, and I've already decided that my nephew will be spoiled rotten.

I thought it would be nice for people to share stories, and that I might be able to get some ideas.

My Nana was visiting her older sister in England recently. While there, a mugger broke in with a knife and slashed my Nana in the arm. Her immediate response was to grab a stool and beak the punk until he cried and ran away. My Nana is Hardcore. This is all just months after my Grandad died, my Nana broke her knee and had her car wrecked. She's always been this awesome.

My aunt who isn't really an aunt, just a good friend of my mum, introduced me to Abe's Exoddus.

My Great Aunt always beats the shit out of me at Scrabble. It's like a big family thing playing Scrabble and we are pretty damn good. I mean how am I supposed to beat my dad when he gets all his letters out 3 times in four turns?

Most people probably won't find this awesome but to me it is the coolest thing ever.

My late grandfather: He had a witty sense of humour, and was one of the nicest and wisest men i've ever known. I have many pleasant memories of him teaching me the capital cities of the world and taking me on walks to fly a kite by the nearby marsh.

If i ever become a grandfarther, i'm going to try and be as awesome as him.

My dad has passed on some of his amazing programming skills to me, though I'll never be as good as him.

I like my Grandpa a lot, I guess he is a bit of a mentor. He has been through two wars and is the best human being I know. He has such a warmth to him and is such a compassionate person and I hope I can be as good a person as he some day.

Thanks. I already have an AutoCAD print done for the awesome clubhouse I'm going to build in my sister's yard. She has no choice in this.

EDIT: As of now, it has a sandbox, slide, swing set, secret compartments to hide stuff, a hidden trap door, a rock climbing wall and probably will have electricity.

My grandad has a sense of humour. As in, he spouts puns whenever he can, which I'm sure I've inherited from him.

Also, my aunt had a Playstation when I was younger.
