I honestly have no way of explaining my relationship with this one game right now...
The main point of this thread is you and your awkward games.
Games you like, but shouldnt
Games you want to play but can't
Games that you were excited for but no longer touch.
Anyway, lets move on to my personal story...
Two or so years ago a friend of mine started talking to me about a new game coming out. At first I wasn't all that interested, since said friend was always rambling on about the newest thing...
Although when I gave it some time, and tried the demo, I got really into it.
The game I'm talking about is Supreme Commander. Currently not too many people remember or have even heard of it...At least I don't think so.
Anyway, it's a massive real time strategy game with a great concept, interesting story, and ultra-competetive multiplayer battles. Me and my friend talked about the game up until it was released. I bought it, he didn't. I thought that was a little weird, since he was the one that told me about it and overhyped the damn thing.
Anyway, Even before it came out I read in many places that Supreme Commander was going to be a comp killer.
Indeed it was. I only had a crappy dell to play it on, but I prayed.
Low graphics, high resolution, and I got started. The campaign got boring after awhile, so I turned my attention to multiplayer. It was intense.
Eight player battles with one thousand units per player was breathtaking. Of course I lagged towards the end of the game, but managed to keep up enough to start getting the hang of it. Supreme Commander was my favorite game for a good two or so months...
Although four hour games and a lack of playerbase made it hard to play. After a while I started playing less and less, but still yearned for it. After another month or so, the expansion came out. That excited me yet again, but I only played for at least a week before finally ending the relationship...
As of now I'm still not sure why I don't play it anymore...
The expansion shifted some concepts around, and made gathering resources for building units a bit harder, but that shouldn't make you quit a game.
Maybe it's because there aren't more than two or three games online anymore, but I still don't know why I've given up on it...
Whenever I think about Supreme Commander I remember it as a bad-ass game that I had much fun with, but when I think about reinstalling, updating, and getting back into it my feelings change...
Eer, that was my story I guess...My point is that I still like the game but refuse to get into it...
This sounds an awful lot like a bad relationship story, and I assure that it isn't cover for some crappy relationship problem...
Assuming 20% of you guys actually read all of that, can you relate? Or give a story of your own... I don't know. This is starting to seem more and more pointless as I reach the end.
Go!
