...but seriously, back in my day (and the area I lived in) a kid was lucky to get more than local broadcast TV, much less a video game system. I got my Atari 2600 after the SNES was already out, and the first time I saw (not owned, saw) a computer with a hard disk drive was 1993 (the first computer I had at home, I bought myself in 1998).

Sure did. I used to play WoTMUD back in the day. I'm pretty sure it's actually still around... but I have no interest in going back to it.

We had to walk to the nearest library, find an open computer, and dial up the internet which was nothing but green text so you could play a text based game. And we were grateful for it.

I'm 32, I played MUDs and MUSHes quite a bit; mainly the Vampire: The Masquerade ones. I was privileged enough to have a modem and a PC in my room, however, so I didn't have to walk to the library.

And I was grateful for it.

Sure did. I used to play WoTMUD back in the day. I'm pretty sure it's actually still around... but I have no interest in going back to it.

I tried that once. Made an account, waved to someone, they waved to me.
