Backwards Compatibility V.S Account system

with the Underwhelming SNES classics announcement I was seeing a couple of comments about Nintendo's lack of a Account system makes it so you have to keep buying the game. On the other hand there system's are 99% backwards compatible. Since the wii and Gameboy color

Would you trade a account system for backwards compatibility?
I would probably keep backwards compatibility just cause consoles and handhelds usually have a lack luster launch line up

Wait, I heard they finally sorted out an account system and redownload of purchases? Unless you're meaning buying the same game for use on a different platform and counting it as a new purchase? The former should be standard by now and the latter is pretty bullshit but understandable from a business perspective, albeit not one that entirely values the customer.
