So i just got the witcher 2, and i love it so far, love everything except for one thing, the health system, you cant heal while in fights...only before them....i think thats the most stupidest thing ive ever seen in a game! if anything is going to ruin my experience of the game, its that. So heres my question, take a game you really like, and tell me what nearly ruins it for you. it could be a design choice, or a character, or even a mission in the game.

LA Noire. The ending was like eating a delicious cake and finding a salad in the middle. Not awful, but bland, out of sync with the rest of the game (or cake) and infinitely worse when compared with it.

Edit: To clarify, I don't mean the actual cutscene story ending, I mean the final few missions. The finale of the homicide desk section was much better, and would have served as a good ending.

That's a feature, not a bug. You should prepare for most major fights with at least a regen potion, and should focus on not getting hit over tanking damage.

Taking out the athletics and acrobatics skills in Skyrim. Means that there are 1) Only very limited ways to increase your movement speed and 2) No way to get the dodging moves they had in Oblivion, so it's incredibly difficult to play a character reliant on kiting and dodging.

i didnt mean that its a bug, i mean that i just feel it was a poor feature to place in the game, im beginning to get used to it though.

i have to agree with this... i feel the last cutscene and stuff was okay, but playing the last few missions as kelso just came out of no where and felt so out of place...you spend the entire game as one character and you dont even get to finish it as him?

BF3: making it so that there's no way to tell if a medic is trying to reach you.

Brink: making the game a first person shooter when it should have been third person.

L.A. Noire: Insisting on having an open world and then populating it with nothing.

F.e.a.r. 3: not giving you a 'search any game mode, any map' option in multiplayer.

Journey: making it a platformer instead of an awesome sand surfing game.

That last one is a joke.

Kind of.

I actually like that Witcher 2 thing, it adds that extra difficulty that is desperately missing in other games.
Only problem I find is that they don't justify it, there is no actual ingame reason to be limited like that other then "cuz it's a combat mechanic".

World of Tanks has one huge hole in it's midst, the fucking unchangeable matchmaking system.
60% of the time you end up in matches where half the opposing team can't even be scratched by you, so we end up with matches where half the people are playing and the rest wait to be slaughtered... real bloody fun.

To me the very definition of bad design choice is ending a series like Mass Effect by taking everything that was good about it, tossing it out the window, stomping it into the ground, and urinating on it for good measure then defend it as "artistic."

Battlefield 3's lens flare. Now, I love me some lens flare, I dunno why, it just adds a level of photo-realism that looks really good in some games, but in a competitive first person shooter it is a major hindrance. To add off this, all the games that add insane amounts of bloom and depth of field to hide their bad graphics and aesthetics. Seriously irritating.

Lack of clear health indicator. Usually with some regenerating health games you have some kind of indicator, Gears of War's cog thing that got more red for instance. Other games your screen just gets so saturated with red that you can't see anything (WHO THINKS THIS IS A GOOD IDEA!?). Why I like clear health indicators? Because I know how much risk I can take with a situation, instead of not knowing if enemies are going to one-shot me or not.

He has a use...I ran him as an anti-lead when the UU metagame was all Yanmega teams. Set up screens like a boss.

Seeing as Max Payne 3 is loaded with 'm, I'll give you a rundown:

- Unskippable cutscenes.
- The cutscenes forcing you into direct fire fights with no cover.
- Automatically switching to your handgun after a cutscene despite having my rifle/shotgun equiped before hand. Add to that the above situation and you can imagine how fucking annoying that is.
- The cover mechanic is crap. And one would think Rockstar has the sense to merge the slo-mo dodge jump and the ability to find cover in one fluid motion... but they don't.
- Your targeting retacle disappears if you aim out of cover at a narrow angle.

There's definatly more in there, but these are the major ones.

Battlefield 3's "realistic" lighting. Either its dark as fuck and I can't see or the sun is four feet in front of my face and I can't see. If you're attempting to aim at a player who is even remotely in the direction of the sun don't bother, chances are you cant see the cross hair or him.

Also "gritty" color pallets. Is it so wrong to have a game not be a series of grays and browns? There are seven colors in a rainbow and developers insist on using two that aren't. The best part of Skyrim is when you get high and talk to Peryite. The color gets really vivid for the length of the conversation and it looks great, then bam, you're done talking and its back to gray scale.
