Today, I finally plucked up the courage to have a haircut that I've always wanted. I searched the web for plenty examples of what I wanted, printed them off, and took them to the stylist. I chose a really expensive place - about £50 a cut - to make sure I got a skilled hairdresser. I spoke to her about what I wanted, and to make sure it would suit my face shape and not make me look too boyish. Feeling confident with her reassurances, I decided to go ahead with it.

Now, at home, I'm regretting it entirely. What was supposed to look something like this [http://www.hairfinder.com/haircollections/lisashepherd06-4.htm] now just looks like she put a bowl on my head, cut around it, then threw some layers in. I'm not even sure if its worth going back in to have them fix it, because all they can do is take more off.

So, my question is, has anything similar happened to you? Ever gone for a haircut and come out wishing you had a bag to put over your head? How do you react - do you get angry, or just leave? Share your bad hair day stories, and how you dealt with it afterwards.

I could cut that style myself, and you paid £50 for it?

I've always gone to some cheap hair cutters. The place might not look like much but those people certainly work for their two dollar tip.

As for the bad hair day, I don't think I've ever had one.

Yeah man, I used to have quite long hair, then cut it all off quite short, I hated it for a few days, but now I like it, and would never grow it back, it'l take time but im sure you'l get used to it!

My mother cuts my hair when ever I need it cut.

And my hair hasn't been cut for close to three years now, so it's nice and long.

Well,we have our good friend as a barber. So there's little to no complaints about haircuts. Though i had an awful (too short) haircut about... 7 years earlier.

As for mine,i have a mullet-like hairdo. Upon seeing me,you'd probably think - "Hey! Is that Solid Snake?"

You have to get used to it. I had quite a drastic change, and was fairly upset for a bit when I got home.

HOWEVER, a couple of days later I realised it's the best haircut I've had, it just looked unusual because I was used to my old hair.

When my hair is cut, it' cut a bit short so it can grow back longish for a month or so, I don't like it when it's first cut but after a week or 2 it's how I like it:p

I did get my hair cut short once, didn't like it. Nearly seven years later it's all grown back to a length I like, about down to my waist, and I'm going to let it grow some more. I like it long.
When my hair was cut short I really hated it, but there was nothing I could do about it, so I just left it and let it grow.

I find that generally my hair looks horrible any way I do it. So I just don't really worry too much about it's length/style and wear a hat over it whilst in public.

At the moment it's got that short, messy Gordan Freeman look.

I shave mine. Once a week. Just longer than stubble. It's easy to manage, suits my look and I never have to worry about styling it every day!

I think you can probably style it from what you've described into how you wanted it. That's a heavily styled hair cut in that picture, it's not going to look like that when you wake up or just after you've washed it.
Though I admit your hair dresser should have styled it when they cut it for you, even the cheapest barbers I've been to offer to style my hair after I've had it cut.

Oh well, the difference between a bad haircut and a good haircut is only a week. Besides, haircuts generally look a bit off the first day.

i've hair pretty similar to, well, the closest is probably Simon Amstell. It's not as good, though, but mostly reasonable.

This happens to me every time I get a haircut.

My hair grows out, then I eventually get bored of long hair get it cut down to about a number 3. The one time I tried to actually have a style (something along the lines of John Barrowman-ish), it required so much gel I gave up, and my hair looked an absolute mess for months.

I have really thick hair so anything other than long or very short is just inconvenient and scruffy.

So, basically, you just paid £50 for what is essentially a trim on me? Costs me £15 for that. I could probably get it cheaper but I have a certain amount of loyalty to my hairdressers so I keep going back there.

You got ripped off.
