Bad Pay Day Habits?

It's pay day for me today, which usually means I think I've got more money than I do and I go out buying things I really shouldn't. Last month it was Guitar Hero and a whole bunch of books. And some clothes. All in the space of a week and my money was gone.

I also tend to book impromptu weekend trips when I'm paid without thinking that I'll need money when I'm wherever I'm going!

Anyone else have any bad pay day habits?

I find the best way to realize I have some wealth is to buy things, making me feel rich. I sometimes go on a buying spree and buy more than I should, so my worst habit: always buying things when I get paid.

Hah, I usually plow through my wages in a weekend. Drinking, cigarettes, expensive takeaway meals, pretty much standard late night shit really.

It was way worse when I had an overdraft though. The idea of spending money what you don't have is far too tempting.

Careful their friend, you find there only using you for your money, it happened to my friend, turned out his GF was a lesbian, who woulda thought?, women do odd things for cash.

I don't have to worry about overspending that much, however I will say this: A sizable chunk of my check goes towards fueling my otaku nature.

I just put not more than ?100-just-in-case-savings in my wallet in the beginning of the year. (those savings are gathered with the change I got from take-out food and such)

Those are basically ?100 that do not exist to me unless I really need them (to make that clear they're folded away in the darkest corner of my wallet)

If through some wicked ways I've spend a considerable percentage of that it will slowly regenerate back through my change again.

It's like having the option to borrow money from yourself.

The fact that the amount of times I go out with friends throughout the year can be counted on both hands helps too.

I have this terrible habit of putting my money in my bank and saving it up for stuff that I might see in the future...

Pay day for me used to be Friday....
Never had anything by Monday, except an epic hangover and lots of bad photos.

That's why you wait a few months them show the the good life. So that way they are there for you. Not the money.

I spend too much on books and manga. Fixed that though, I just get direct deposit now and cut up my card. I hate going to the bank so it keeps me from making stupid purchases.

I have an even worse habit of investing it, making extra retirement contributions, and just generally living well within my means. If everyone lived like me the economy would collapse for lack of consumers.

I usually just cash mine, pay for a meal, then put it in the bank.

...Then mercilessly drain said bank with my Visa. Dammit PayPal, you make things all too easy!
