It's a nice idea along with karma and communism but none of them work out on paper. I'd love to be proven wrong but I've not seen any evidence to support it, sometimes shit just fucks up.

You ignorant little piece of foul smelling asian dish!

Nothing bad happens for a reason, the only solution is to turn "lemons into lemonade"

Some do it because of luck, some work hard for it.

Sometimes, when gran dies, it just fucks up everything and takes away the only person who has ever unconditionally loved you.

I should beat you bloody, hopefully, you'll learn taking huge syringes of blood thinners to prevent clotting isnt so bad, so when you need your anti-rejection drugs to replace the liver i ruptured the needles wont scare you so much.
Wow, you have some issues man

You, are one of them.
Chin up buddy, not everyone is as angry as you

Well I do not know if bad things happen for a reason although one day I did come up with a theory. Bad things are important, think about it if there was no such thing as a bad deed then there would be no bad people. Everyone would be the same, evil people would be the same as good. Now for the sake of argument lets just say there is a hell. How would we distinguish who should go there, who should be punished. Also if there were no bad things then there would be no good things. So I do not know if they have a reason but they kind of have a purpose. Especially if you believe in heaven and hell(or some form of it). "it is good that war is terrible otherwise we might become accustomed to it" Argh I forget his name.

they happen because you touch yourself sorry about that...

I dont realy think that theres a given "reason" for bad things to happen, other then the fact that statiscically they can and probably will sometime happen...

cant realy remember an event like those you have mentioned...

I?ve never really thought if things, good, bad or somewhere in between ever happened for a reason. It?s enough that they happened and I have to deal with them. I don?t really want to spend my time thinking about whether something bad happened for a reason or if something good happened for a reason. All that really matters is that it happened.

as soon as i saw this i thought: scrubs
i watched that episode today too and considered it at the time

and my feelings are that karma doesn't really exist
good things dont always happen to good people bad things dont always happen to bad people
i know that wasn't strictly the question but it ties in with my point

my own personal view is that bad shit just happens sometimes
perhaps we make the best of a bad situation because we just have to
but the bad thing happening in the first place often outweighs any of the positive actions we take to try and fix it
maybe you see those actions in themselves as the good thing that comes from the bad thing

but personally i'd rather not have to experience the bad thing at all

bad things are bad. period.

You might learn something from them and turn a bad situation into a good situation, but they are still "bad things". Also: bad things happen for a reason...it´s Chaos Theory...which is why most good things happen too. Of course good and bad personal decisions come into the equation, giving you a limited control of your future.

EDIT:LOL.Forgot to answer to the topic. Sorry. Well...i used to get bullied a lot when i was a kid. I guess that made me a bit tougher (the whole "what doesnt kill you makes you stronger" thing applies, i guess). The situation was still bad, as i said. I just try to be optimistic about it.

I would say something along the lines of "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger", but since I don't believe that, I won't.

Instead I'll just say this: Bad stuff just happens, and what you take from those experiences, how you deal with them and how you come away from them is up to you. It can lead to good things, but it can just as easily spiral out of control and turn into an even worse situation for you.

If something good comes out of a bad situation, that's great, but it's only coincidence. Bad things don't happen for any specific reason, they happen because the world is random and both good and bad things are bound to happen in every persons life.

Bad things happen for a reason? As far as any karmic lesson teaching thing goes? No, bad things aren't interested in your philosophical outlook. But of course they happen for a reason. You're mugged because the mugger wants money for something, and there's the reason you were mugged right there. There's always a reason for something, it's just not always connected to you or relevant to your life.

Everything in my life has carved me into a stronger person. I came close to breaking, but am much stronger than I was a few years ago. So I believe everything has a purpose to some extent. That purpose isn't always benevolent, but it is going somewhere.

Heard a story from my seventh grade history teacher. Once there was a fellow walking in front of the school I attended and he tripped and fell. Another individual turned to see this and laughed loudly. Unfortunately now that his head was turned he couldn't see the flag pole in front of him and walked right into it. A reason? Yep but it was probably the kids own stupidity to blame.

The idea that, in this chaotic world, horrible, horrible things may happen to us for absolutely No tangible reason and scar us indefinitely, is so harrowing a concept to accept, that people have invented entire complex Belief systems just to assure themselves otherwise.

Those are called Religions, and said religions tell you "It may seem bad now; but once you die, Everything will be fine and dandy!". So you can either believe that...or be an atheist and call BS. Your choice.

Don't let my Cynicism fool you; I DO believe in a higher power, simply because it makes the pains of life, easier to bear. Ignorance (even "knowing" ignorance) is Bliss, after-all.

I have to say that I envy you OP for having such a view on it.

As for my self I can't see anything good caused by a bad thing.

Maybe the inhertance money from my parents death...Oh wait...

Everything has a cause and effect. insofar as that, yes everything has a reason. e.g. I was born because my parents at one point had sex, much in the same way anyone posting on here was born. Unfortunately that does not mean that there are always a logical or fair reason behind everything.

Often times people try to rationalize unfair things so that the bad things don't seem as bad, but that is all it is. Rationalization.

Sure, bad things happen for a reason.
Rocks fall due to gravity, people age due to free-radical damage, murder is caused by sharp or heavy objects.

Being less facetious about it: A "friend" and myself fell out, even though I thought I knew what type of a person he was.
That taught me to get to know people better and to avoid them if they really don't gel with my personality instead of acting nice.
