Badges?

I've been a member for a while now and aside from the occasional vacation, I'm posting quite regularly. This time, when I logged in, I discovered that I had somehow amassed ten badges. I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering when the hell did this happen and how could I get them while I was away? Were these always there? did I have a blind moment?

...Now I'm going to have to start collecting them like Xbox achievements. Great.

What badges are there? how many are there? I can has badges?

There's a ridiculous number of badges of all sorts. Probably the hardest one to achieve outside of contests would be the Pillar of your Community bade (100 friends) or the Neo badge (5K posts without probes or bans.)

Well if you hover your cursor over the badges on the left then it tells you the requirements in order to get them.

"Badges" are updates daily at 9:30 am GMT (convert that to wherever you live in), so if you complete the prerequisites for several badges, come 9:30 of the following day, you'll get all the badges you amassed. To know what you got the badges for, go to your badges tab in the user profile and tada.

Do we really need to talk about badges again?
Though I would like to point out to Bobmaster that it's only 50 friends for Pillar of the Community.

Don't ask how a badge could oppress you, just do it!
I turned mine off, everythings been going fine for me since then.
Now I don't judge users by how many views their "Why all the hate on Christianity" thread got. I judge them by their words.
