Just something that came to mind as I was narcistically looking at one of my own posts. I moused over my badges, which at some point of boredom I aligned meticulously to best show who I was to the rest of the Escapist forum population. At that point I started to wonder: what do badges really mean to people?

What about you guys? Do you hunt for badges, eager to place them in the top four? Do you just arrange them so they don't clash? Is it an important part of your Escapist forum presence or rather completely coincidental? How about the other way: do you remove badges from the top four because you dislike them?

TL;DR: Why do you have the top 4 badges that you have?

These are the ones I'm proud to show off. The rest are not really worthy.

3 of them represent me and the person I am, and the other one is candy (nom).

They are just the badges that define me as a gamer, a person, and shows how long I have been here.

Yeah, you go to your profile and click the "badges" tab.

Almost 2 years and you haven't figured that out...

OT: Sometimes I'll arrange my badges. Usually to put the coolest ones up front.

Two of my top four show my community awards, the ones in the middle complement my avatar.

I like showing off my Epic Poster and my Regular badge because it makes me feel like I'm a bigger part of the community than I really am. The Mudkip badge is there because I worked for it and the Team Rocket one is there because I like it.

As for replacing them, I don't think I'm going to be changing these badges. I'll naturally replace my Epic poster when I get Neo'd but the others will likely remain the same. The ones visible on my profile page will get shuffled more often. Do I hunt out badges? Not since I got my Mudkip. I still take the quizzes and try for the easily acquired badges but I don't really go out of my way. I might end up going after the Biff badge or the Beard Badge at some point. I don't know, that is probably way in the future.

I don't care about them terribly much but they are fun and your choices help show your personality without using words.

[sub][sub]I actually got another, more badass badge instead of Team Rocket in that quiz but I took it again just for Jessie and James :D[/sub][/sub]

I shifted mine to the ones I like the most. Otherwise, I don't much care. I only change the order if I get a new badge I like more or if my fancy changes and I decide it's time for a change.

There like Jesus points, you feel accomplished when you get them, but if you act like you care your imaginary cool points get taken away.

My badges currently arranged are the ones I get in order. I'll eventually change them a bit, but I think I'll only show my Regular and Morpheus badge. I don't hunt for them, and I hardly pay attention to them.

I don't give a fuck about badges. I have them turned off so that I can't see them, but you can still see mine. The forum looks a lot nicer without the same bunch of generic badges that everyone has distracting me from the posts. They're garish and add nothing for me.

The badges that I have enabled are supposed to tell a short story. A mysterious vagabond with a mask comes into a bar and orders a drink. His name is Fire.

I'll buy 3 beers come December 18th, but that's probably the last change I'll make to my badges.

Well, the first three badges are the three that I'm pretty proud of!

The last one I have because it's getting close to halloween.

Dito. Though I'm sure some of the things we should off would convince much of the world that we are not normal : / I can tell you how pleased I was when I aced the impossible wow quiz. In hindsight....Not so much ...

I like the four that I have displayed and I doubt I'll ever take off the seal puncher badge. I spent a good half hour torturing myself to get it, so I'm going to show it off with pride. I'll hunt for some badges if they look cool, but right now, the only one I'm looking forward to getting is the 3 year badge which I'm a year away from getting so I'm not going to hold my breath. I've already got Neo, so there's nothing else I really want to get other than Thanks! and I don't really know what to do to get it...

My four are the ones Im either proud of or fit my personality.

Right now I have:
Trinity: Proud of not having mod wrath :D
The Fighter: I play a bad ass monk in d&d and I like MMA so it suits me
Pac Man Ghosts: As it says, I don't look scary but I can kill you in many ways (plus who doesn't love Clyde)
Ubernerd: I play d&d, Magic the Gather, watch anime, and play video games... it fits me perfectly

#1. Candy! Candy! Candy!

#2. I love pacman.

#3. I didn't want two personality quiz badges touching.

#4. Not very accurate (i'm more of a smorgasborder) but it looks cool to me.
