oh its very simple. the CIA is probably involved, attacking terrorism in the wallet. you see, theyre paying a bunch of highly trained economic sabetours trained at a secret underground facility in space i mean, douchebags to destroy the world economy. if we hit EVERYBODY the terrorists will undoubtedly be among those affected. and they didnt even try to hide it, in fact, they PUBLICIZED it and even TOLD US how much they were getting paid. thats just a stroke a brilliance. see? the bush administration IS winning the war on terror.

Amazing. In America even the idea of the barest public health care is headed off by cries of "but how will we pay for it you damn communist?!" but when big businesses fail, suddenly those socialists...I mean capitalists have trillions of dollars in their back pocket.
America: we'll save stupid millionaires from the consequences of their actions but we don't give a damn about your hip replacement.
And I'm not at all anti-American, so you have some idea about how ludicrously stupid this all is.

You know, as a sci-fi and space nerd, that disparity just pisses me off.

The "NASA (All time budget)" is kinda saddening compared to all the rest of the totals.

all australian families are getting a bailout! my parents just got $1000 because i am under 25!

Australian government gives the money to the people to spend, US government gives it to big business.
Granted the situation and scope is drastically different though.

It's not a lump sum bail out and it has to be repaid. So in the long run it hopefully won't make too much difference. Although paying the interest on all that debt will.

doesn't help that the US is devaluing the dollar everyday which will make the payback to foreign investors even more painful.

Yeah, it's kind of pharmaceutical companies arguing that drugs should be more expensive because the money made will attract research investment, and the patients will be able to cover the price hikes because of the AWESOME insurance they have.

It's just one of the weaknesses of the capitalist system that it will eventually break down because the system fosters and encourages greed.
