My mane thick and long. I lose handfuls every day it seems, but it never thins at all. It's great, except now that summer's here I constantly feel like it's 5000 degrees.

Edit: Also, I thought that it was your mother's mother's hair that was the way to tell. Like, if she started having thinner hair then you would likely lose yours. Could be wrong, though, but you might want to check her situation out.

I will never go bald.
I'm 15, my hair is thick and long so no chance of loosing it soon.
If I do it'll feel like I'm loosing an arm or leg.

Plus I'm female so it'll look a bit odd.
But due to the fact non of my grandparents have lost hair as they aged I think I'm safe.
Yay genetics!

I will probably go white by like 20 or 30, though.

Fucking genetics.
That would be pretty cool to have a full thick head of hair, but it all be white. I think that's whats gonna happen to me, because, now my hair is super thick and curly and so is my dad's still to this day (He's 48 by the way).

I'm at the arse end of 24 and I'm well advanced into my father's condition - I've got a rather splendiphorous widow's peak brewing, although if dad's anything to go by this will continue into my 60's. Individual hairs incredibly thin though - like spider silk! Not sure whether maternal or paternal as they all have widow's peaks. I suppose it's not too bad - there are worse hair lossage scenarios!

For those of you with rear echelon baldness (like a monk, at the crown) and total baldness try a moustache or beard. BUT not if it makes you look like a kiddy fiddler!

I'm more worried about going gray. I'm only 16 and already have a good amount of gray hair.
Noooo, not another one!
I started noticing grey hair when I was 14. Now I'm 20 and I'd say I've only got 30% brown left. Oh, the horror.

According to quite a few people, that means I'll never go bald - though I doubt there's much truth to that.

Well, I've got a nice thick head of hair still, as have all my relatives. Still, that doesn't stop my father exclaiming that I'm going bald.

Still, I honestly hope I don't go bald. I like my thick hair, and, to boot, I wouldn't be able to pull off the hard man look.

And I'll just dye it if it does go white.
Nah man - you can be a silver fox! (Philip Schofield et al) plus if you develop a really dark tan white hair will make you look seriously cool - like boss hog! :-D

I´m 23 and there´s no sign of me getting bald anytime soon. On the contrary, I have hair to spare. You want some of mine?

However, I´ll most likely go bald as I grow older, but I´m not going to do a thing about it. No matter how you try to hide it, you will get old and wrinkled, and eventually die.

Sadly it's beginning. I'd say it will end up like this within 10-15 years.

Well of course I had to use Cox as an example.

I agree with Max's concept of "Fuck genetics".

But grey hair is awesome. Especially if it's that silver grey that chicks dig.

And they so do.

My hair is already receding, but not at an alarming rate.
Like, it's further back than it was three years ago, but not alarmingly so.
Just enough so that you can notice if you look really closely.

Also, seeing as it seems to be being mentioned, my grandparents on both sides had white hair.
My dads hair started losing pigment about fourty (according to my cousin), and seeing as I look exactly like him, I'd say about the same will happen to me.
He's got all his hair, though, so I dunno.

Just your mum.
Ohohoho.

What's wrong with dyeing my hair?
What?! My mother was a saint!

It's just such a chick thing to do, almost excessively vain if you will. There's nothing wrong with a man having gray hair, it can actually be turned into a plus and give you more charisma (see George Clooney).

I dunno really, it's just that when I immagine someone dyeing their hair I think of some squallid 40 year old divorcee who's trying to hide his age to pick up younger women.

Nah, I'm not balding at all.
But I do have a few grey hairs already. Pretty weird considering I'm only 23.
Must be the stress of being a med student or something, I dunno.

My dad is completely bald apart from a little bit around the back, and apparently has been this way since he was about 30. His brother is completely bald. My granddad on my mum's side had a full thick head of hair right up to his death, but one of my cousins is completely bald and the other nearly so.

As for me... my hair has never been particularly thick, it's always been the kind of fine hair that goes fluffy when washed, which is bloody annoying. Lately it's getting very thin on top, but I've still got plenty around the back. My brother, on the other hand, is two years younger than me (we're nearly 26 and 24 respectively) and is going bald a lot quicker than me and has taken to shaving it to the scalp. Basically, we're a carbon copy of my dad and uncle.

It never bothered my brother because he's always kept his hair short, therefore it's not so obvious. I, on the other hand, have done a lot of daft things with my hair over the years and always had it long, so it's really obvious now that it's disappearing. Luckily it's not receding as much as it's thinning, so there's a bonus. I look at photos taken less than a year apart and wonder what the hell happened. It really bothered me for a while, but I've pretty well made peace with the idea now - I figure I don't have a lot of choice.

From what I understand baldness is not in my genes however I frequently find myself shaving my head entirely bald (like... Moby bald...). It makes me feel like some perversion of a monk.

For those of you going bald, I guess it sucks but you can at least look cool about it like our good friend Mr. Pitts [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Russ+Pitts].
Sometimes I paint pictures on my bald head.

None of my grandparents are bald and my dad has plenty of hair (but he has balded a bit), so I'm worried at all. I really don't want to go bald because I look terrible without much hair.

Don't gloat. My hair was super thick. Think Soundgarden era Chris Cornell. Now it's all gone. The trick is to shave it to the scalp and grow a fuck off Viking beard.

Having said that, if they invented a cure tomorrow, I'll be straight down the chemist!
The only problem with growing a big beard when you're bald is that it looks like someone has just twisted your head upside down ;)

And no, I'm not balding right now *touches wood*. My dad has a bald patch with some hair, and it's identical to his dad's hair. On my mums side my Grandad had thick hair til he died. So I remain hopeful.
