So, my current tablet is nearing the end of its life span, and I've been considering buying a new tablet. I did a little searching and it seems like Bamboo Fun is "the awesomest thing out there" currently. I looked around a bit and read some reviews, and it seems really good so far (I really liked the paper like texture the surface is suppoused to have. Since I remember that drawing on plastic was the thing that bothered me most when I first got mine). But other then online reviews, I'd like to know what people here think about it (I like to get "the people's" opinions on stuff rather then reviews). So does anyone here own one? Have you even heared of it? And if you own one, how good/bad is it compared to old tablets you owned before (if you have)?

You might want to describe what a bamboo tablet is. Before you start asking what people think about it.

Well I was going more towards the crowd that actually knows what I'm talking about. Since I dont have much use for the opinions of people who don't know anything about it. And if no one here knows anything about it, then I guess I'm just screwed.

I couldn't quite remember how much my current tablet cost, but it did feel like it was alot more then the Bamboo. It's pretty cool that something so innovative is still very much affordable to almost everyone~

for it's price i'd assume it's pretty good, being a Wacom who're pretty much THE tablet making people, although which tablet you get from them entirely depends on how much you'd like to accomplish with it, i've been using a Gaphire4 for about a year now and it's just been such a useful tool for what i require it for.
I'm planning on getting an Intuos3 at some point (once i got some more money coming in) and that alone will bring me closer to what proffessionals use, my mate happens to have a Cintiq (sketchbook sized) and he has nothing but praises to sing about it.

But yeah, if you're just starting out with Tablets Bamboo is definitely a place to start.

It's pretty sweet. I suck at drawing and graphic design in-general and know nothing, but after a few days with the tablet I was able to pick it up and start making something other than scribles. I'm not sure it feels like paper, but it does have a distinct (not plastic) feel and I always know where the edges are without looking. Plus the pressure sensor work flawlessly. In fact, I'd say they work too well, I need to figure out how to lessen the effects.

But don't go with the small, the screen size is tiny. Go medium at the very least (what I did) or if you can spare the money get a bigger Cintiq [http://www.wacom.com/intuos/index.php] with a screen.

But it all depends on what you plan to use it for and how serious you are.

I hope I helped.

Well I generally use it for GC art and sketching on the computer (Photoshop, Open Canvas, Paintchat, stuff like that). It's just that right now I'm planning on starting a certain commissions project and I figured that while my tablet is a little buggy and my pen is falling apart, I should get a new one. And if I'm getting a new one, then it better be useful for this project.
From what I could tell, it looks like the small size is almost the same as what I currently have, so I don't think I would have a hard time to get used to it. But I would like getting a bigger sized tablet for a change.
And there's no way I could afford those awesome screen tablets. orz

Do all tablets show the image or only the higher-priced models? Cause it seems like drawing on a tablet without the image would be very confusing.

On topic: I'd say go for it. This is my completely inexperienced opinion.

Lol, thanks.
Well using a tablet is, in a way, very much like using a mouse. You don't look at the tablet itself while using it. Only the really expensive and professional ones have a screen on their own. Which I assume would feel like you're drawing on your computer monitor. Only more comfortable...probably.

eventually you learn to adjust to it and it becomes just as easy as drawing on paper, onyl issly issue is you can move it around for slicker looking curves like you would with paper, but then again it's easy enough to train your hand to do that by itself anyway.

Used to have a fairly cheap Trust Tablet, which was okay but had very little life in it compared to the Bamboo Fun. I Have only really had mine since Christmas but my god is it useful. I have only a couple of minor issues, though they are more to do with the artrage software that came with it. I would definitely recommend this tablet if you have used one before.
