if any1 says Metallica i will bring down the wrath of metal gods upon you ! Ò.ó
and i cant come up with any bands atm
And I will help you.
DragonForce. They've got what one song? The rest of them all sound exactly the same. Honestly they could be making such better meaningful music...
I'm actually gonna have to say Metallica. Absolutely fantastic band, and brought metal out of the closet of whinging, screaming, weirdos. Then they released St. Anger, and any remaining respect for them I had washed away around the same time I deleted all of that album off of my computer. How the band that made Sandman, Unforgiven, and Turn the Page released that festering turd of a record is beyond me.
My Other Bands That Should Stop:
My Chemical Romance: This one is a bit of a caveat, since it's not so much "they simply have to stop" as "they should either evolve, or stop". I like songs about my girlfriend/father/mother/3rd grade teacher never really caring about me as much as the next entirely heterosexual guy, but they've already said basically everything that could be said.
Single File: Again, not a categorical "you blow, stfu". It's more that I really liked their early stuff, when it was funny and self-deprecating. Now they have lyrics like "I'm sad about girls" and it's just terrifyingly bad.
I agree with OP, especially about Blink-182 and Greenday.
For Greenday, it's that they've really become way too full of themselves, which loses a bit of the wit and charm of earlier albums (and they've become overplayed, but that's besides the point). If you're going to try to do social and political critiques, take a page from CSNY: don't be a smarmy little douchebag about it. American Idiot (as an album) sounds like every single bad stereotype about my generation played out: oversensitive, presumptuous, arrogant, self-absorbed, and other bad things. Also, if you make a music video in which you sing "I walk a lonely road... I walk alone", please don't be flanked by your two buddies at the time, it loses its impact.
I want to avoid the cliched ones (Good Charlotte, Nickelback, Insane Clown Posse, Dashboard Confessional, Three Days Grace, ect), so, continuing:
The Academy Is: I'm not sure what happened here. They moved past "evolving and maturing" and straight into "bum-raping any kind of pitch, tone, or rhythm".
Jack's Mannequin: Kind of sad, actually, the decline from heartfelt and somber into balls-out emo, all in the span of two albums. Also, when your music video is directed by anyone even tangentially related to "Twilight", you need to find a new gender 'cause I'm revoking your dude license
Rage Against The Machine: Again, once you've exhausted an entire catalog of songs about evil capitalism/authority/government, it's time to either move on, or shut down. There are only so many ways to say "fascism is bad" before one ceases to think you have a message, and begins to believe you can only really grasp that concept.
That's all I've got for now
