I get what you mean about that alien sound now, that's interesting. Same with Adema heard in a game liked the songs, bought their first albumn which was a good piece of metalwork, then over the years they did seem to become more generic. But hopefully with the origional lineup back together that will end.
I agree that Ensiferum is underrated, but someone covered them at battle of the bands at school and I know of a few fans so they never came across as borderline obscure to me. I think they're kind of in between, not popular and relatable enough for the average person, too popular and jovial sounding for the kvtist snob.
