Kidneythieves... discovered 'em in Deus Ex: Invisible War (I know, I know... I'm a blasphemer for having enjoyed that game)

I learned a lot of good bands from the old Tony Hawk games, the one I specifically remember and still love to this day is Alkaline Trio in T.H.U.G.

You may be, but Kidneythieves are an excellent band. So all in all, I'd say it was worth it!

I was introduced to Flesh Field from the game Project Gotham Racing 4

Two steps from Hell from Mass Effect 2.
And Miracle of Sound from his songs. They're about games, so they count.

Contrary to my usual likes, there are about 12 Reggae/Dub tracks in my music collection.
All but one[footnote]Max Romeo - Chase the Devil[/footnote] because of KJAH

Can't remember all of them, but a few big ones that have become favorites:

Superbus (from a Guitar Hero game)
Lisa Miskovsky (did the Mirror's Edge song)
Hayley Westenra (from Endless Ocean)

There's also a few bands who I'd known about, but hadn't liked at first, but playing a song of theirs over and over in Guitar Hero kind of made me interested enough to try them again.

Hmm... There are a lot of times where I don't really like the band aside from the one track, and I otherwise wouldn't have ever been exposed to a particular track that I unexpectedly love. Cage the Elephant's Ain't No Rest For The Wicked (Borderlands), Killing Joke's Death & Resurrection Show (one of the NFS's) and Schweine by Glukoza (GTA) good examples. That is one of my favourite things about the Guitar Hero games, and is a nice perk for other games like NFS, Burnout and the Tony Hawk games. I like hearing new things.

Only two actually. Blue Stahli and Celldweller from Dead Rising 2. Uncomplicated noisy stuff. My cup o' joe.

For me it's also gotta be Cage the Elephant from Borderlands
Bought their album soon after and it was a great investment :)

GTA 4 introduced me to the now grammy winning The Black Keys as well as !!!, Les Savy Fas and LCD Soundsystem. Can't really think of any other game that's showcased any bands I hadn't already heard of.

Of course back in the day old school Tony Hawk games got me into a large number of bands.

Oh and Rock Band got me into Dinosaur Jr. and Mastodon.

I'm also currently loving the Beyond Good & Evil soundtrack by Christophe Heral and have been a fan of Akira Yamaoka for a number of years. And yes Anamanaguchi is an awesome artist I wouldn't have known if not for Scott Pilgrim The Game.

I've been trying to get into Faunts since Mass Effect, but keep just going back to M4(Part II). It's just that good.

I can't hear an Offspring song without thinking of Crazy Taxi. It's impossible.

I have listened to this song upwards of 100 times. Maybe more. Haven't looked into much of their other stuff though.

Hmm Cage the Elephant was on the radio a lot before Borderlands came out here, I wonder if they're from somewhere around here.

Anyway, only one I can think of is Hot Hot Heat they had a song in umm MVP Baseball 04 or 05. Actually that game had a great sound track, still got a few songs from there on my iPod.

Cage the Elephant, via Borderlands
Danny Kaye, via Fallout 3
The Ink Spots, via Fallout 3/New Vegas
Marty Robbins, via New Vegas
Dean Martin, via New Vegas
The Offspring, via Crazy Taxi

Both of the newer Fallout games have an awesome selection of old music, and I ended up naming my Pandora station "Galaxy News Radio" in their honor >.>
