With the glasses, Barbie bears a strange resemblance to Bayonetta [http://news.softpedia.com/images/news2/Bayonetta-Has-Evolved-From-Devil-May-Cry-Says-Producer-2.jpg].

Mattel, if you're listening, I just had the greatest idea for Barbie #127...

*shudders* Wow, I just a haunting vision of Legally Blonde hashed with Hackers... kinda creepy.

Wow...
For once in my life, I feel less afraid to touch the cold, flesh-colored plastic of dolls meant for my sex...
Much as I cheer the breaking of another barrier (if only for my own tastes), shouldn't she be wearing something a bit more tech/nerdy?

Where's her slept-in t-shirt? Where's her piercings? Pink Sandals instead of Nu-rocks? And more importantly, why is she wearing an ANALOGUE watch...

Dominatrix/witch barbie?

Yea, I suppose that could be kinda cool.
I'd be much more interested in seeing the resulting Masochist Ken; smarmy, sweater vest wearing half-man has it coming.

I suppose. I do expect some backlash since the role isn't "empowering enough".

I'm personally waiting for Pro-Dominatrix Barbie, Porn Star Barbie, and the alternate "/B/ Cam Whore" outfit for this current role. :)

Still a few stereotypes they need to look at, they assume all computer engineers wear glasses and that girls only like pink computers. I know a few gamer girls and they all find the "pink" range to be condescending.

Also, what engineer uses such small computers to do their work on? Bundle her with a Cray supercomputer, or atleast one that doesnt appear to be suffering from a BSoD.

My vote is for a Dominatrix Barbie, tired of drawing outfits with Sharpie markers.

I feel like a douche just saying this, but... didn't Barbie break up with Ken? o_O

OT: Well, maybe it'll encourage more girls to think about IT as a perfectly viable career for girls, in which case it must be a good thing.

Escapist News Correspondent apparently has a shot at becoming Barbie's 127th career, which will come complete with padlocked cage and bathroom bucket. Seriously, someone help me.
Hahaha! Nice one, man. I haven't laughed so hard in weeks.

Do they include the living in a cardboard box in an alley playset for when the Dotcom bubble burst?

Either way, Barbie still looks slutty.
Yea, they definitely could have made her look more...nerdy. who says nerds can't be hot?
Well, there is hot and there is slutty.

Nerds don't do the slutty thing.
Well, they do, but...
You know.
Cough, Princess Leia, cough.

I like the idea of little girls playing with Computer Engineer Barbie instead of some other stupid barbie, or those fucking Bratz dolls that encourage those little girls to turn tricks in alleyways.

=] +1 for humanity.
