Ok, I have a PC, TV, and 360, and I'd like to connect them all to speakers without wanting to disconnect cables repeatedly.
At present, I have to reach behind the TV and plug in headphones if I want to use the 360 late at night. ( I live in flats so don't want to annoy any neighbours. )
I've got a box of various cables etc.
I guess I'm wondering, because I don't want to blow anything up:
I do have a two female to one male 35mm splitter cable. Would it be as simple as directing the audio output of the TV from its 35mm headphone out socket to the splitter, and plugging the PC audio out into that splitter and then the male end into my PC speakers?
I'm not after huge volume or crystal quality, but I imagine if it's going to give me interference I'll skip it.
If that wouldn't work, could I connect another set of PC speakers from the TV and set them up behind my couch so I had access to volume and a headphone socket from there when using the 360?
I've got a fair bit in the way of old speakers and cables, so I'd prefer not to buy more stuff if it's not needed. More than happy to buy the right lead or adaptor from Amazon or the like if it sorts out the problem however.
In short, I'd prefer to be able to run my PC and 360 thru one set of speakers, annoyingly, MS decided that we can't plug in two output cables, the HDMI blocks the other one. Would feeding both outputs into a splitter to drive them both into one input be bad?
It's strange, I'm fairly handy with a PC and windows, but have zero clue about setting up an audio system.
