So... does anyone know when the new 52 will finally end and we can go back to the real DCU? I stopped collecting comics before the new continuity began, but would occasionally still pick up interesting stories, but this whole retcon just doesn't interest me at all.

[small]Probably never I know, but I can hope/complain[/small]
When the people who were kids when Infinite Crisis came out are old enough to write for DC.

They already did that's why we got Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis.

The stupid mask aside (I mean really what's the point if it does nothing to hide your face so people can't identify you easily?) it looks pretty good. Much more practical and down to earth rather than flashy and just for sex appeal.

Again the mask is the only real sticking point for me because even by comic book logic (where all Superman needs is a pair of glasses to be Clark) it's still pretty dumb. Might as well wear just a hood with bat ears for all it does covering her actual face.

Why is she taking a selfie in a night-clubby public place with a purple phone.

I mean... what's that about?
I know, right? That phone clearly should have a bat symbol on it.

I really like the new costume. Although my personal preference for Batgirl is Cassandra. I might actually pick this one up though.

So, the new Batgirl hangs out around the trendy SOHO gentrified end of town. And I see the boots-that-Daria-made-famous are still "with it." That's nice. You know what I'd like to see? I'd like to see some major comic book house come up with a superhero that hunts down Wall Street super-criminals and hangs them out to dry. Like the Koch brothers. Or Dick Cheney. Yeah, like that's going to happen. Be kind of like living in 1938 Berlin and telling jokes about Hitler having one ball. Next day, nobody ever sees you again. You want V for Vendetta? We're all living it, baby. You won't see any REAL super heroes ever again, because the criminals run the world. Heroes are for entertainment purposes only, to keep the masses of sheep amused.

So spandex is stupid, yet jogapants? Not something more like cargo pants?
And how is the jacket more practical? Its has no advantages over what she has beeing wearing befor and the way it looks its not a tight fit so its going to cause a lot of nice chafing considering that the members of the bat-family move a lot. Plus the old suit was actual armor. The only thing that looks practical about this is the removable clock .

If you want practicality then do practicality! This is stylish, not practical.

Knowing just about nothing about the rebooted Batgirl, or much about comics in general, but I gotta say, I like it. I tend to like the more homemade looking costumes than the spandex.

So how exactly did her spine fix itself?
Apparentally there was an experimental treatment developed in South Africa and the better part of a year of physical therapy. Um ... okay then ... moving on.

I like the new look, but I maintain she served a far greater purpose as Oracle than she ever will as Batgirl (who should be Stephanie Brown).

Weird thing to remember, but Catwoman actually brings that up in the Injustice comics when Superman goes to look for her for reasons.

She sees some dead guy on the ground and comments on how he never would have been there if Wall Street hadn't fucked everyone over. Then when Superman finds her and lets her go she comments on how he shouldn't forget about the CEO's that ruin peoples lives every day.

Was really weird to see in a comic, let alone someone directly telling Superman that there are more evil doers out there than just the spandex wearing sort.

But seriously, I thought she was established as the information provider/computer expert/support specialist for the rest of the Batclan? I read one of the New 52 with her in it where she was moping about how she wasn't worthy of the medical advances that cured her paralysis, and the entire character was written as a generic action chick, which I'm sure are dime a dozen in the DC universe. Why not keep Barbara as Oracle? I mean, isn't there already an Asian Batgirl (whose name escapes me right now)?
I wouldn't mind them bringing her back as the classic character except for the fact that A. it appears to be handwaved as "BECAUSE SCIENCE!" and B. they did something interesting with her, which the first arc was not.

They could have even done something interesting with the fear she'd lose use of her legs again, but if they did, it was further in than I read. I mean, the fear was there, but it lacked the "interesting" part.

A superheroine that doesn't look like a themed prostitute? Nice. Still looks like a pretty dull distaff counterpart though.

...I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but I can't take anyone that calls people 'sheep' unironically seriously.

The more I look at that leather jacket the less sense it makes as part of the costume. It just looks like a regular jacket with a bat logo printed on it.
Did they try way too hard to avoid something that hugs the body tightly? Because male superheroes wear that shit all the time.

I don't know if I like it. I mean, the design is cool, I like that, but in the context of Batgirl, I don't know if it suits her. My understanding of Barbara Gordon's character as of right now in her publication history (which may be wrong) is that out of all the Batgirls (I know of at least three) she's the veteran. And The New 52 seems to have made her into a more serious character, since she's been a wheel chair for years (did she get better somehow, or did they just retcon that out of existence?)
This outfit would be more suited to a younger Barbara, new to the whole Batgirl gig. She looks a bit like a female Robin now.
I can live with, it in any case.
